Tasting Complete! Menu decided

Jolie, on August 15, 2019 at 12:30 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 7

Myself, my mom, and FH's mom went to our venue yesterday for the tasting and it went a lot better that I thought it would! The co-owner was there with us because our coordinator had a family thing to take care of. I worried he would be way too pushy and overbearing like he tends to be but both moms handled him well. The apps were pretty much decided on just have to run it by FH. We tried 3 of the 6 apps; they had these AMAZING mini cheese steaks with spicy ketchup (like no kidding tiny rolls and everything). These come at the small expense that they have green pepper in them so my mom can't eat them, but she said she was okay with that because she thought all the guests would love them. We tried lobster bisque soup that will be served in a little ceramic cup and you sip it, and we tried duck rolls which was kind of like an egg roll just mini.

We tried two salmon dishes and two beef dishes to decide which we would prefer! We decided on pistachio-crusted salmon and flank steak which let me tell you was phenomenal for the type of cut it is. We were looking to add a beef instead of chicken but without hiking the price so high and my parents said they would pay that extra cost. The chef said the steak was $5 extra to our package and I made sure mom was okay with it and she was! I am actually excited. I gave up on my whole cheese/meat apps to replace some of the 6 apps, because I just didn't feel like creating a big ordeal (with all this planning I have just not had the energy to make big deals of things that don't have to be). I think our apps will be great as is!

That sounds delicious! Our menu is:

    Stationary Crudité Platter

Passed Appetizers: Bacon Wrapped Scallops, Beef Empanadas with Avocado Mousse

Dinner with House Salad and choice of 3 dressings

Marinated Flank Steak with Mushroom Sauce, Duchess Potatoes, and Asparagus

Salmon with Lemon Butter Sauce, Rice, and Asparagus (we asked if they could just add veggies since this dish didn't originally have any).

Shrimp and Grits with Sautéed Greens

    And dessert will be cake

Yum yum that sounds great too! Do you have guests with seafood/shellfish allergies? We have some and we wanted the bisque and a crab cake for the apps. I figured there were still 4 other app options they could have. I don't think I have ever been to a wedding where every single person got to eat every choice if they were allergic to something. And our venue is a professional restaurant as well, so it's not like cross-contamination is an issue.

FH's stepmom and stepbrother have mustard/shellfish/nut allergies. When we chose our menu we certainly kept them in mind. The caterer assured us that the shrimp and grits would be made separately from the rest of the dishes.

Okay that's good. I will talk it over with FH and see what he thinks about keeping the crab cake on if he's attached to it or not. We have I think one nut allergy, but he certainly won't be dissatisfied with having to eat steak over salmon haha.
