Tape to Protect Lace from Beading

Hello! My dress is all lace, and I’m attaching a beaded belt. I am worried about the belt snagging the lace, so my seamstress recommended putting some tape over the belt when putting it on and going to the bathroom. Has anyone done this before? What tape should I use to prevent any stickiness to the belt? Thanks!

I had mine sewn on...and didn’t have a problem (also lace, also metal and my belt was not backed in ribbon) my belt was thinner though.

Hi dress twin! You're the first other person I've seen with my dress. I'm not help on the belt issue though. My belt has a brooch attached to ribbon.

I don't have any specific experience, but I'd probably try the blue masking tape used when painting -- it removes from most surfaces pretty cleanly without a residue. (Test it on a hidden portion of the dress/beading first.) Good luck!

Hmm, I can't think of any specific tape off the top of my head - but I also had a snagging issue! The top of my dress was completely beaded and the rest was tulle - so if I leaned over or held the skirts up too high or if we folded the dress the beads would hook in to all those little openings in the tulle. We were just really careful with it and tried not to panic, but slowly "unhook" my skirt from the bodice!
I'd definitely have someone help you put the belt on, and if someone can help you take off the belt and then put it back on when you go to the bathroom that would work!
