Tanning?

Kelly, on November 26, 2019 at 8:05 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 6

I work outside all summer and due to my job must wear a tshirt, no tank tops. By wedding time I will most definitely have awful tan lines! My dress is strapless so I would like to tan to rid of the tan lines. I really don't want to use a tanning but have never done spray tanning. any input on spray tans?!

I don’t use spray tans myself but I’ll advice to test this multiple times before the wedding so you get the hang of it.

I used to get spray tans when I felt I wanted a little extra tan when my natural one faded. I would recommend looking into local places and maybe not like an ITAN or something like that. I found a place local to me that they do the spray tan by hand so they can focus on evening everything out. I plan to do testing to make sure it looks good and I want to test it and wear white or a light color to make sure it doesn’t wear off easily. Check on yelp and then check the ones with good reviews, their instagram just to see real pictures. Good luck!

I did a spray tan a few months before my wedding to see if it worked out, I didn’t like it at all. It was splotchy and orange in some places. So once it faded I got some self tanner and tried it multiple times for a few months. It worked great as long as I use and applicator and have help on my back (places I can’t reach). I was still paranoid so I ended up getting in a tanning bed (yeah I know it’s bad) I got in for 5 minutes the first time, nothing, 10 minutes the second time. (I asked for 5 but they said 10) I burnt. Like, seriously burnt I was a lobster for 2 weeks. But, it did give me a slight tan... and Tan Lines! Great. Lol. So I went back to the self tanner. And I used it for my wedding, once in the tan lines were barely noticeable and no one said a thing unless I asked if they noticed then they looked and said “I didn’t even notice!” I recommend practice. With whatever you decide on. Self tanner is what worked for me and I’m still using it.

    Hey Kelly!!

Personally, I am a huge fan of spray tans but the trick is finding somewhere that works for you! I would definitely recommend finding a salon that has a person spraying you instead of standing in a booth.

You may find that you prefer the color after a couple of days, as opposed to the day immediately after your spray tan so I would advise getting a trial run before your wedding!

You can always get tanning lotion and just put it on where the tan lines are. Also, make sure you’re wearing sunscreen and reapplying frequently to try and cut down on the tan itself.

If you're booking a makeup artist, see if your MUA also does spray tans. A lot of them do! This way you can test it out with someone you have a comfort level with.
