Tanning for engagement photos?

Nicole, on March 12, 2017 at 1:45 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 5

I am planning on having my engagement photos done in May sometime, my issue is I am VERY pale and FH has a naturally tan complexion. I would like to be at least a little tan but I'm really not comfortable using a tanning bed. Does anyone have experience with spray tans or lotions? (I had a spray tan for my prom years ago but I'm sure things have changed)

Spray tan all the way. So easy and safe.

Thanks everyone! I don't really wear make up as it is so the makeup not matching won't be too much of a dilemma. I had a spray tan years ago but it was very, very hot out and let's just say I didn't plan accordingly. I'll definitely be looking into it more and I appreciate all the advice!

Also, when using the lotion how do you not turn your hands orange? I used it once before and my hands made it very noticeable

I love getting spray tans. I get them done a couple times a year before vacations or just because. I have never had a problem with a spray tan booth. I go to Sun Tan City if you have one near you. Airbrush spray tans are also great to ensure a more natural looking tan. I would just suggest getting one done now so you can decide if you like it or not. I also agree with Olivia P to get it done at least 2 days beforehand.

Do not do not do not use a self tanner for photos. It will likely be streaky or splotchy. I'm also very fair and marrying an Italian--tall dark and handsome! I'm personally a big fan of spray tans, but it took me finding the right person to provide this service. I tried three or four different places/people before finding one that looked natural and gave me just a hint of color, nothing orange. The one I go to is all organic and sprayed by a person not a booth/machine.

Whatever you do, make sure you exfoliate before for an even color! For a self tanner, I reccomend St Tropez mousse. You apply it with a mitt and it develops over 8 hours ( I sleep with it on) , after 8 hours or the next day, you shower it off and you're tan! The next best thing IMO is airbrush tanning. Booth tanning can sometimes leave your fingers orange and blocky. Overall the color from booth or airbrush is great . However since there's so many close ups on your hands in engagement photos, I would do airbrush.
