Tan lines

I’Mmrsv, on August 25, 2017 at 2:21 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 21

Anyone else paranoid about tan lines in their wedding dresses? I know I've been wearing strapless EVERYTHING. This Cali sun is no joke.

I've been cautious as well. I'm in Florida and can tan significantly in just one day in the sun. I will probably do a spray tan before the wedding to even myself out.

Yes! I usually get a farmers tan because I never wear tan tops or strapless anything!

I've been using sunscreen like never before. I usually burn or tan unevenly, so I plan on spray tanning instead.

I have bikini strap lines! I'm freaking out. Do I keep going out in the sun with my straps down? Do I stop going outside, but then will I still have time to get a tan before the wedding if I let myself get pale and start over.... a lot goes through my head. As of now it's not looking good

I had tan lines, and I just did a trial run (airbrush spray tan) and it evened them out a lot... Barely noticeable. I will be doing one 2 days before the wedding. I def recommend it (by a person not a booth as they will focus on those lines to help fade them). I also def recommend the trial run, to make sure the color they use works for you.

@GreektoIrish2017 I had those exact tan lines but ten times worse when I went wedding dress shopping. It definitely wasn't a good look for me lol. I bought a ton of strapless tops to make sure it evened out and thankfully it did and looks great. You have time for sure!

I have worn strapless bathing suits all summer for this very reason. Paranoid that I would have lines.

@GreektoIrish2017 I would recommend leaving your straps down when you are swimming or in the sun from now on. If you aren't going to be in the sun much more before your wedding maybe a few times in the tanning bed would help.

I am a triathlete so have super odd tan lines everywhere from all my time in the sun. I am going to start tanning once or twice a week a month before the wedding to even it all out. I'm sorry but I kinda cringe when I see a beautiful bride in an amazing dress and my eye is drawn to her tan lines....

I have a mild watch tan that hasn't faded, so I am in the same boat. I tried to do the self tanner stuff, and it made it worse.

I am now using skin brightening lotion and soap and the harsh lines are starting to fade. It won't be perfect, but atleast it won't be a defined line anymore.

@FutureBennis - I have been using the Kose White line since I lived in Japan so the lotion I get at the japanese market. The soaps came from the Vietnamese grocery store.

They aren't magic skin lightening stuff. But they are fading the harsh lines a bit with washing then lotioning twice a day.

I ended up with tan lines so s few days before the wedding I went and got a spray tan. But the one that they come in and spray you

It makes it way more even and looks great

    It wasn't orange at all

I have been going to the tanning bed 1-2 times a week to get rid of tanlines that I got from LAST summer.....so right now I'm just trying to maintain a tan until my wedding.

Is it bad that I planned my wedding season around this because I'm so pale and burn easily? I specifically chose April for two reasons: it's not fire season (FH is a wildland firefighter) and April in Oregon is still rainy and gross so there will be no chance of having tan or burn lines. My wedding is indoors so I don't have to worry about weather very much. I went and picked out a dress the other day and was slightly embarrassed by my burn line (don't wear keyhole back shirts with no sunscreen).

Luckily, my maid of honor is a bridal consultant and is bringing her air brush kit. Check with your makeup artist to see if they offer airbrushing and if they can bring it along on the day of just in case.
