Tall Brides!!!

TaylorCova, on April 10, 2017 at 3:07 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 24

Hello ladies, I'm 6'2 and was wondering if there are any other tall brides that could give dress advice and if they found long ones from a certain designer. My wedding isn't until June 2018, but just seeing what you all have to saySmiley smile

Thank you

Many designers have the option to order extra length (for a fee of course!) when ordering your gown...for example, I know Haley paige, waters, essence, martina liana all do on at least some of the dresses for an additional 50-200$ depending on designer and dress.

I'm only 5'9 and found some dresses to be short even on me. The dress I ended up picking was made longer than most so I ended up needing about 1 inch hemmed off (and wore 3in heels) which means the dress would have fit up to 6'1ish as is. it was a martina liana for reference. I think it would have been $150 to add an extra 6 inches of length to mine.

I'm 6'-1"! I was super excited when I saw the title of this post. Honestly for this exact reason, I chose a tea length dress. I don't know if that's something you'd be interested in or not, but it worked out well for me. I didn't have the typical dress buying experience, as I ordered online, so unfortunately I don't have much to offer in regards to designers.

Most designers have an option for extra length. I'm 5'11'' and the regular length is actually perfect for me for my dress. Best advice is just to try on and ask questions.

I am just about 6'1, didn't have an issue at Davids Bridal since I was planning to wear flats, most were long enough without needing extra length-also, if try on a few short dresses. I figured I would hate cocktail length..but WOW did I love them. Great excuse to show off strappy heels too!

I'm 5'8"- not really "super tall" just taller than average- I had a pageant dress and she wacked off a good 6-8" and I had 3-4" heels on.

I'm 5'11" and got a dress at David's Bridal. I'm wearing like 1/2"-1" wedges and the length is perfect. My fiance is only 6'2" so I knew I didn't want to wear heels much higher than that. I hate ordering extra length (I've done it for BM dresses for myself) bc then you're paying the extra fee for the extra length and then again to hem it. I was very happy with my DB dress.

I wish I could help. It's my dream to be tall! 5'2 here. Smiley tongue ETA: though, now that I think of it, my dress is waaayyy too long. I imagine if I was your height it would probably fit almost perfectly, or even with a little fabric left to take off. It is a Stella York.

    I'm 5'10

& my dress is Stella York 6219

There isn't much of a hem that I'll need.

I'm 5 feet - but the bridal shop where I ordered my dress said that most dresses are made for 5'9" women. I'd probably order hollow to hem if I were you so that the length is perfect when it comes in. Like PP said, you don't want to pay for it to be longer just to pay to hem it.

I'm not a tall bride, but I do know most places can order dresses with extra length! I'd ask the consultant at the boutiques you go to about it. I hope you have an amazing experience looking for your dress!

I'm 5 foot 10. I was told that if I wanted to wear heels I would need to order extra length.

If you can find someone who makes dresses to measure, you'll have no worries. I did not do it because of height, but it was a great experience. After selecting a dress, one of the seamstresses took all of my measurements, and they are making a dress from those measurements.

My dress was an Allure. I'm 5'10 and wore 4 inch heels and the regular length was perfect without any hemming. They tried to get me to order extra length which Allure does offer but I refused.

I'm 5'10" and wearing two inch heels. My dress is Allure and it fits perfectly! My consultant told me that dresses should hang just 1/2 inch above the ground and that's exactly where mine is with my shoes on!

This was a big struggle for me. At 6'1" most of the samples came above my ankles and didn't hit my waist or hips correctly. I ended up falling in love with a Bonny Bridal dress and ordered the extra length--my dress has eyelash lace on the bottom so it wouldn't have allowed for alterations, so I actually had to find my shoes before I ordered to ensure the exact length was added.

Pretty much any designer will allow for extra length, just be sure to give yourself additional time. My designer usually runs a 12 week turn-around, but my special order was closer to 16 weeks.

Yay tall brides! I am 6'1" and was pleasantly surprised with my dress shopping experience. Most dresses I tried on were the appropriate length or at least acceptable enough to get the picture of how the dress would look. The dress I ended up buying came in extra length options of either 3" or 5" for $100 total. I needed about 4" (of course) so went with the 5" because no one wants a short dress. Good luck to you!

I'm 5'9 and wearing flip flops/going barefoot for our beach wedding. I bought a Lazaro dress and I will have to get it hemmed on the bottom because it is too long. I had the same issues with some dresses not laying properly on me because of my height and shoulders/back (I was a swimmer when in college). I think you should be ok and can always order extra-length! Good luck!
