Taking pre ceremony pictures?

Amber, on August 10, 2020 at 2:19 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

I needed help with a possible timeline and advice on taking pictures before the ceremony.

Our ceremony is at 6pm.

FH and I are doing a first look in an area off to the side of the venue, so it will be private.

I am having a hair and makeup artist come to me and I know from the trial it takes about 2 hours.

Has anyone done pre-ceremony pics? just bridesmaids and groomsmen? Parents too? Just bride and groom?

Thanks in advance.

I did my photos before the ceremony and I included the grooms party and the brides party. I did take some photos with family as well. My ceremony was at five and so we started photos at around 2 o’clock just because we needed to set up for the ceremony ourselves so if you don’t have to set up for the Ceremony or something, you can probably start photos later

We did all wedding party pictures and most couple pictures before the ceremony. We did family pictures really quickly after the ceremony just because we didn’t want to have to coordinate more people coming to the venue early for pics. Then we snuck away during dinner for like 15 minutes for some sunset pics!

My fiance and I are going to do a first look and our photos, and then immediately after the first look, we'll be doing wedding party photos. We're also going to try to get family photos in there as well before the ceremony. Basically, as many pictures taken before the ceremony as possible, so we can spend cocktail hour with our guests.

We did some photos prior to the ceremony including me with my bridesmaids/bride's man, my husband with his groomsmen/groomswoman, a first with my dad, and my husband and I's first look. I took one family photo with my mom and grandmother (on my mom's side) prior because I didn't want my grandmother on my dad's side to feel excluded. I am closer to my grandmother on my mom's side and she was like a second mom to me. My jewelry was misplaced in the morning so we ran a few minutes behind on the timeline I posted below so we took a couple of photos of me with my bridesmaids/bride's man after the ceremony.

    2:30 - 2:40 - first look with my dad

    2:40 - 3:00 - me with my bridesmaids/bride's man / husband with his groomsmen/groomswoman

3:10 - my husband and I's first look

3:10-3:40 - photos of my husband and I

3:45 - me hidden before guests arrive

    4:30 - Ceremony begins

    5:00 - Ceremony ends/ Cocktail hour begin

5:00-6:00 - Cocktail hour and family photos/ full wedding party photos/more photos of my and I

Our ceremony starts at 530. We will start pictures before ceremony at 3, BUT after the ceremony, during cocktail hour we are doing our sunset photos, just the 2 of us.

I have a package for my ceremony I’m Vegas. The limo will be picking us up an hour before the ceremony and taking our pre ceremony photos I’m guessing 30 minutes prior. We will be on site tho. So take into consideration traffic, accidents, and any other emergency’s if you will not be on location.

I am not doing a first look so we are each taking an hour worth of photos with our bridal party before the ceremony

We're doing a first look also, and I wanted to do as many photos pre-ceremony as we could fit in. The first look is at 2pm, our photographer will take about 20minutes of photos of just us. Then we'll start the photos with the full wedding party. Ceremony will start at 4pm. Any photos we don't finish before the ceremony, we'll finish up after, while guests have cocktail hour.

We’re doing all of our photos before the ceremony! We’ll have a first look, bridal party photos, and then family photos. We want everyone to be able to enjoy the cocktail hour, not miss part of it for pictures. My fiancé and I will step out with the photographer later at sunset for a few photos, but that won’t take long. My brother did this too, and it was perfect! Your photographer should be able to help you come up with the timeline.
