We are having an intimate 50 close family members wedding ceremony and reception, about 10 children will be included my FH wants a taco truck for the food instead of plated or catering .......inputs? I'm not crazy about the idea but I don't hate it !

I think one truck for 50 people could take a while for everyone to get their food. How long are you planning for your reception to be? Would he be open to having a catered meal and having the taco truck as a late night snack or something like that?

It depends, is it a casual reception? Then why not

    Fancy?

I couldn't imagine myself in an expensive dress and my fh in a tuxedo feeding our guests that way. It just doesn't match the rest of the atmosphere

You can try to get a Taquiza, I found a caterer here in Southern California for my rehearsal dinner. It's still tacos but you get the taco cart and it would probably be faster.

I didn't think about the time it would take for 50 people to get tacos, that's a good point futuremrsack! What would you pair for the catering if we decided to do late night taco truck? (which I think is a GREAT compromise) ?? Would it be insane to have two to three catering food trucks? or too expensive for just 50 people?

I don't think getting multiple trucks would be insane, I think I've read about other people doing that before. See if you can get some quotes to find out how much each truck would cost. If you decided to go with catering and do the truck as a late night snack, maybe BBQ catering? I'm not sure what would go with tacos, although I love tacos so I would eat them with/after just about anything lol.

My FH's one wish for our wedding was to have food trucks, which made me nervous with our guest list at 150 people. From my inquiries, it really depends on the capabilities of the people running the truck in regard to being able to handle a certain sized crowd. We're planning to have 3 trucks, mostly for variety, and because I am paranoid, and we've booked 2 out of 3 already. The two we have booked (one is a wood fired pizzeria, and the other does waffles) both mentioned that they could easily, on their own, feed about 75 people without having much of a wait, in an hour. But... like I said, I'm paranoid, so we're planning on 3 trucks, just to be sure that no one is waiting around.

The other part of the plan is to utilize cocktail hour as a good time for people to start putting in their orders, and then by dinner time, the trucks should have a head start. We are planning to give our guests skewers with little washi-tape flags on them with their name and table number, which they will hand to the food truck attendant when they place their order. When their food is ready the skewer will be stuck into their food, or at least on the serving dish, and the venue wait staff will be able to find the person who ordered the food, and bring it to them.

    Did someone say tacos????

Love the idea!!! We are actually considering a few food trucks in our area for our wedding with under 50 attending. Both owners are professionally/culinary school trained and are more adaptable to a customized fun menu.

I'm also doing food trucks (3 trucks for about 135 people) and am super excited. It was way cheaper than any catering option and the trucks we've chosen are super tasty favorites in the city. I met with all the owners this weekend to discuss strategy and anticipate the wait not being much different than a line at a buffet.

Would they have to wait on line for the tacos? I don't want to wait on line at a wedding, anywhere.
