Taco bar?

We're doing a taco and baked potato dinner. I think it's fine as long as it's a casual wedding. If it's formal or any bit fancy, I'd suggest going with something a little more formal.

A lot of people on here will jump in and say it is tacky and dangerous to self cater. I will just say it is stressful. You may be able to find a caterer who will provide a taco bar for cheap.

Also I do not think a taco bar in general is tacky at all. Some friends (I say friends loosely really I just went to high school with them and our families are close) of mine had a taco bar at their wedding and everyone (including my mom. I did not go) loved it so much they kept insisting I should do that. I would have considered it if they hadn't already done it and I wasn't invisioning something more formal.

It is pretty informal but if you are going for an informal vibe, then I think that would be great! Are you by any chance located near New York or Chicago? I recently hosted a work conference in NYC and we did a taco bar for lunch, using Dos Toros Tacos (they also have locations in Chicago). It cost us under $1300 (INCLUDING tip) for 60 people, and everyone loved it! It’s chipotle-like ingredients, but soo much fresher and higher quality. It was a hit, everyone was thanking me all day for making such a great lunch choice 😂

I would say tacky if you put it together yourself, if done by a professional caterer then I think it is a wonderful idea for a more casual wedding.

As a taco lover, I'd say go for it! We went with BBQ because we are having a larger wedding, but our rehearsal dinner is a taco bar from my favorite restaurant!

It's going to be a catered taco bar, I forgot to put that in.

If our wedding was just a little more casual I would have went with a taco bar. So I say go for it!

We are doing food stations for our catering and one of them is a taco bar! I personally love the idea and think it's different than the typical buffet or sit down dinner.

My friend told me she went to a wedding and they had a taco bar and I wish I would have thought of that first before hiring a caterer. I think you could totally do it yourself.. just make sure the display is pretty!

I think a taco bar is a fun idea. Especially for a smaller / less formal wedding. Not tacky at all.
