Tablecloths or no?

Marcia, on October 4, 2019 at 1:04 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 11
I’m getting married and having my reception outside. It’s a pig roast and VERY casual. We will be eating at picnic tables. Do I need tablecloths and what kind do you suggest? Thanks in advance.

Personally, I think it's easier with the tablecloths, to keep things clean, but if the picnic tables look good and you'd want people to eat on them -- then don't do linen. I am doing tablecloths at my wedding due to the fact the tables are all mismatched underneath and they've obviously been used for awhile with scuffs and marks all over it, so it's the easiest way to hide blemishes and mis-match.

If your wedding is VERY casual you could do plastic tablecloths, since they make clean up a bit easier, but if you don't think that they are necessary I would skip.

If the tables are nice on their own skip the table cloth or if you want something maybe just a table runner. If not and you do want something, I would go with a plastic or maybe paper tablecloth, you could even do just some brown butcher paper.

I think tablecloths on picnic tables are a must, especially if they are public/well used tables. I don’t think picnic tables tend to or are even able to be cleaned very often, so I just want a buffer between my utensils and the table. Any type will do. One thing I would advise is looking into clips or weights (or even tape) for the corners to prevent them from blowing off if it’s breezy at all.

I would get tablecloths, even if you want it super casual and get the plastic ones. Even though it’s not a formal event, it is still a very special occasion and should be a little more than just a family picnic. It will also look better in photographs with the pops of color on the tables.

I would say go for it just for easier clean up! plus it looks nice - no matter how casual the occasion.

This is the one time I'd say go for plastic tablecloths. People spill, and cleanup is easy. The wedding reception sounds casual enough for it.

I was looking on Etsy for a tablecloth for the registry and noticed a plastic tablecloth listing with different color options.
