Tablecloth Matching

AJ, on April 15, 2018 at 3:33 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 7

Our colors are eggplant, white, and silver. I purchased white floor length tablecloths and eggplant satin overlays for all of the round tables guests will be seated at. I did not buy the same set up for the rectangular tables (head table, escort card table, or DJ table). I planned to either do white tablecloths with silver sequin runners, or just nice silver tablecloths. A) It is hard to find affordable purple satin overlays or tablecloths for 8ft banquet tables, B) I though the head table could look different, C) the bridesmaids are wearing a similar shade of purple to the tablecloths and I thought it might look weird?

Today I asked FH his preference. He says they need to match the round tables, or it will just look like we ran out of purple tablecloths.

Opinions?

(PS sorry for asking so much on here, aside from FH I don't have many people to bounce ideas off!)

I feel like as long as each style of table has matching tablecloths (which it sounds like yours will), it'll be fine. My cocktail tables will most likely have different tablecloths than my round tables.

I'd switch it up. We're renting eggplant/plum table cloths for the rounds, but using ivory for the sweetheart table and all the others. I think using white/ivory will break up the monotony.

I would do a sliver runner over a purple table cloth.

Or this table cloth is really cute. It's a little pricy but not to terrible (less than $20)

You certainly can use a different cloth on the rectangular tables. There are so many possible options:

white cloths with purple or silver overlays or runners

purple cloths with white or silver overlays or runners

silver cloths with white overlays or runners

If you want to use the same eggplant overlay, it doesn't have to be big enough for the whole table. You can center it.

you could also use runners placed crosswise

You could also so something completely different and use sequin cloths or ribbon

I think they should be different. Too much of the same would be overwhelming.

Thanks, ladies! He's being pretty adamant on them matching as closely as possible and since I'm trying to make the planning as 50/50 as possible, I guess I'll give him the better end of this compromise 😉

We'll do white tablecloths, and probably get the purple satin runners because those come in the exact same fabric for a good price and are slim enough to still provide some contrast to the other tables.

Remember too that if the runners aren't long enough you can overlap them in the mile and hide it with the centerpiece.
