Tablecloth dilemma

Liz, on February 3, 2020 at 6:10 PM Posted in Planning 1 12
My venue does not provide linens. The linen place in the area charges $16.95 per tablecloth. I’ve seen Tablecloths for sale for 9.00 -10:00 that’s seems like a big difference. Has anyone or is anyone buying instead of renting????

I rented instead of buying. There’s no right or wrong but you have to remember with renting you’re paying for someone else to steam them, set them up, and take them back after the wedding.

I would rent them. You likely will have no need for all of those after the fact, and prob much cheaper than buying.

I bought mine for about $5 each on linentablecloth.com and then sold them all afterwards.

My venue provides white and champagne color table cloths (we’ll be using the white) but they recommended tableclothfactory.com if we wanted any other colors. Check them out they’re pretty cheap.

Linenfactory.com sells floor length linens for anywhere from $5-8 each then you could resell them after your wedding. A good thing to keep in mind if you are buying them and not paying a company is the linens will be wrinkly unless you have someone else the day of steaming them. Buying from craigslist or facebook is also a great idea!

Our venue provides tablecloths, but we're renting cocktail tables and needed tablecloths for those. We got our 120" tablecloths from tableclothsfactory.com for only $6 each! Check out their site! They have great prices, and their items are high quality.

I have a friend that has a ton of table cloths already but I did end up buying all the napkins. It was cheaper to buy over renting by $40 or so and I can sell the napkins after the wedding.

We planned on renting all of ours but once the time came to place our order, they were out of some so we ended up having to buy some and rent others.

Keep in mind that if you buy your own tablecloths you'll need to launder and steam them before and after your wedding and will also need to be responsible for bringing them to the site and possibly setting them up. If you want to remove the tags that takes time as well (we have reusable linens in our house and I've removed the tags from all of them so they look nicer, and that isn't a quick task when you have a large quantity of items). Then you need to clean them up and figure out what to do with them after. Even if you sell them to recoup some of your cost there is a lot more work involved.

When you rent you pay to borrow the item, but also for all of the labor involved, and you know the items will get used again which equals less waste and better for the environment. Also, often the rental items are higher quality as they are designed to be used over and over again, and the items you can buy for less than the cost of renting usually aren't as nice.
