Table seating cards

Lairdo, on November 24, 2008 at 9:16 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5

Hello everyone,

I am confused as to whether table seating placement cards are labled per individual attending or per couple? Example: Mr & Mrs. XXX or would they each get their own card? Also, how would you include a "guest"? Opinions would be much appreciated! Thanks so much. :-)

Place Cards (or escort) cards is a fantastic way of doing a couple of things: the first and most important is giving you an accurate count of guests that will be attending your reception. Yes everyone should have their own card, including children. It's always a good idea to have everyone's name so that you may include them as you are designating seating. The other wonderful thing about place cards is that they serve as perfect cues to the servers if you plan to offer your guests entree choices on your response cards (i.e fish, chicken or vegetarian selection). This will give your catering staff the opportunity to see the entree selection (i.e. special meal, children's meal requirements etc)as opposed to asking your guests when it comes time to serve.

    Hope this helps, Best Wishes!

I would say for each person so you can designate exactly where everyone goes and there is no confusion. And if there aren't too many "guests" I would just call up your friends and ask who they are bringing, that way you can also greet people by name! Good luck!

They can be done either way. But doing a Mr & Mrs xyz, Table 5 - is more eco-friendly and more economical and less time consuming to create.

The best way to handle placecards is to make one per invited guest/couple. If you invited a married couple, you would put on the card Mr. & Mrs. table_____. For a nonmarried couple, you would put Mr. _____ & Ms. ________, table _______. For a person invited with "and guest" you would just put the invited guest's name and then write "and guest" on the placecard (i.e Ms. Jenna Smith & guest), but if you know the name of the guest the person is bringing, you would want to include that (try to avoid the "and guest" as much as possible.) If you invited an entire family and they are seated at the table you coule write Jones Family, table ___ or each individual name; Mr & Mrs Robert Jones, Tommy, Sara, Michael, table _____. Hope that helped.
