Table Cloth Recommendations

Samantha, on January 11, 2020 at 6:22 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 6
Hoping to get some recommendations on table cloth colors! My girls are wearing the light blue from azazie and the boys are wearing navy. Initially I thought of doing white table cloths with light blue napkins and now I’m debating doing light blue table cloths with white napkins. Saw some really pretty inspiration on google. But would that blend in with my girls too much?

Honestly I don’t think anyone will really pay attention to the bridesmaid dresses matching with the table cloths or not haha, I’d just do whatever you think looks best! Either sounds lovely.

I don’t think people will notice! I have also been thinking of doing the same table cloth colors as my bridesmaids (navy).

Clothes should not match the table linens or other large expanses of space, like chair covers, carpeting, wall hangings. From a design point, it is silly. People do not furnish their spaces to match their clothing every special occasion, or daily. Or buy clothes to match dominant colors in rooms. Small pops of the same colors, like napkins, are fine. Just not matching in general. Choose a much lighter or darker shade of the same color family, or a contrasting or complementary one. Not matching. It really shows in some people's pictures. The photographer is trying to accent the positive, showing off your outfits to best advantage. Which means the lines and outlines of dresses and suits must stand out from their backgrounds. And you see two bridesmaids standing in front of a table that matches their dresses, so they look like they have growths out to the side of their hips, and are joined to each other with the same color making a bridge between desses. Or standing in sheaths, but one has the ruffle and bow of a chair cover spoiling the line on one side.
My sister wanted more color in a too white room, and the venue ( for a fee) put up a drapery over sliders , and a runner carpet, for a group picture space. And the guys in charcoal and navy look like they are standing beside floating heads and white gloved arms. The BM's gauzy Dusty rose chiffon was an exact match to the area carpet and drapery fabric. And the only good pictures are taken from way off center, so he could capture some shadows to give form to the ladies. The aim is NOT to camoflage your beautiful clothing. Next to vases of flowers on tables and mantles or shelves, behind people, which appear to be growing out of someone's shoulder or the side of their head, large expanses of matchy matchy color, and bridal party gowns or suits are the biggest hazard for photos. And could easily be prevented if people did not get carried away with their colors everywhere. Think contrast and accent to BP attire, not hiding people in plain sight, or distorting their body line with things appearing to grow out the sides of dresses. Pictures are 2 dimensional, and need contrast of color, and shadows from single light directions, to differentiate figures and things from the foreground and background, so you see a 3D scene in the picture. Indoor lights from many directions, or dim lighting, eliminate most shadows on the edges of forms, and people. So help by creating contrast.

This is one of the other stock photos he uses to make his point. Very fashionable, white dress, white room. But a lousy picture, no contrast, no details of the dress or figure .

Thank you everyone for your suggestions! I know its such a silly thing to stress over because no one remembers the colors you used. I had to go back at look previous weddings i've been to to see what they did because I could not remember. I'm just going to keep it simple with white and colored napkins.
