Table Assignments-How did you present them?

JSull, on March 21, 2017 at 2:07 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 31

Looking ahead and wondering about our "seating chart".....When we make our seating charts, we will assign tables only. What ways did you present this? I've seen the plain old cards on a table, but saw some fun ideas on Pinterest too. Wanted to ask you all for some inspiration!

FH and I are planning on having a poster board or two on display for guests to see where their tables are. We are thinking of having one listing alphabetically and one that is separated by table so that guests aren't crowded around one board.

@teamgrz, are you DIY-ing that? I wouldn't feel comfortable just writing that out myself. My handwriting is very neat but never straight. lol

We are assigning seat- name will be on a cookie and as for the "seating chart" we are having a window-style frame (think is 12 spaces) with the tables-names

I did mine like this- each table had a card with names on it, hung on the wall near the entrance.

We refinished an antique mirror, then printed the table assignments on card stock and attached them. The mirror was standing on an easel by the door to the ballroom.

@MSTB- I do plan on DIYing it. I do not care for my handwriting either, so I plan on either stenciling it or printing it out.

You ladies have some nice ideas!

@MrsFallBride, yours looks way better than the one I was referencing. It was a plain white table with plain white escort cards and that's it! I look the wooden table look but our venue makes us use a tablecloth on every table =(

Escort cards...that's all. I didn't really think that this would be the most memorable part of my wedding, but I didn't really want it to be either...so I just stuck with tradition.

@StuckOnYou, yeah, I was up in the air about how to do this because I didn't want the plain ol' boring table, but now I'm thinking maybe I can jazz up the table like @mrsFallBride did.

    Did you handwrite yours?

I bought a vintage window for $10 and I'm going to write the guest names in the panes like in the pic. I'll be hand writing the names in gold marker, but I'm cheating and tracing a pre-printed font on the other side of the glass Smiley tongue

ETA: I'll be cleaning the window and using it as a decoration in my house after the wedding

We're just doing escort cards. I wanted to do a sign because I thought it would be easier, but my planner told me that if guests get added or subtracted at the last minute, it's easier to just make an extra escort card than to redo the whole sign. So far, we've had 2 guests drop out and 3 guests get added.

I'm making this one, once our date gets closer and we have an idea of who will be attending. I already tested the tutorial I found by making a sort of "welcome to our ceremony" sign. Super fun, and relatively easy if you like that sort of thing! Just measure, tape, trace and print. Smiley smile

A friend gave me a bunch of picture frames which I was originally going to use for the table numbers on the tables, but then realized I have no idea how to make the back of them pretty, and they wouldn't be high up enough. So! I am using those picture frames for the seating chart. They will be on a table near the entrance. However I'm trying to decide whether to organize by table or by name... I like the look and ease of doing it by table but I'm worried it will take people too long to find their table that way, so I might do it by name.

Here's our first run-through. The next one we do I'll focus on making the lettering a little cleaner, and it will be a seating chart like in the tutorial picture in my previous comment

Oddly this was something I wanted to put effort into because I knew every single person would lay eyes on it. They may forget a votive or flowers but they have to look at this haha. This will be hanging at eye level from wooden beams with fishing line so they appear to float. The short ones are 3 feet and the taller ones are 4 feet.

You ladies have such great ideas. Those seed packets are adorable! If that matched my theme, I'd steal it! hehehe.

@Eng, that came out so nice! How did you get the lettering so nice

We will Be doing champagne glasses with champagne in them and a scroll on the side with each name and table.

We are feeling festive for NYE - plus the glass is the favor too (my MIL insisted that we have a favor so im doubling it up) -- and if no one takes them I wont care.
