Sweetheart vs head table

gratia01, on December 23, 2019 at 6:28 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 15

Our reception is being held in a space that has a bit of an odd shape...I'm not sure how much space we will have if we do a head table, but I don't want to make our wedding party feel like we don't want to spend time with them! What did you do or what are you planning on, and why? Help me come up with some pros and cons!

We did a sweetheart table and as a bridesmaid, that’s what I would prefer as well. No offense, but I would much rather be seated with my wife than eat dinner on display while the newlyweds are cuddled up together.

I agree with Caytlyn. Everyone in our wedding party has a spouse, as well as kids who aren't in the wedding party. If we had a head table, our BMs/GMs wouldn't be able to have dinner with their own families.

I like a sweetheart table much better for this reason. They will be happier sitting with their families, while we have a few moments alone as a married couple.

We did a sweetheart table. We wanted the time with just the two of us and we didn't want to separate our bridal party from their significant others.

We'll be doing a sweetheart table. I actually have never heard of a head table until I came to WeddingWire. All the weddings I've been to (and been in) have had sweetheart tables with the bridal party at tables spread throughout the reception space. I definitely have enjoyed this set up as a member of the bridal party (and as a date of someone who was in the bridal party).

We’re doing a sweetheart table. Big reason is so I can be alone with my husband. Not that you’re alone during your wedding haha, but still. Also the majority of our wedding party is married so they should be able to sit with their SO.

I convinced my fiance to do a sweetheart table so our wedding party can sit with their guests while we have a moment alone together!

We did a sweetheart table. Most people in a wedding party want to sit with their spouse or guest anyway.

    Sweetheart table!

This was easy for us because we are also doing cocktail tables for the guests, so it'll definitely be a social event. Even with us having our own table, I'm sure we'll be up walking around and hosting a lot during the event. But at the end of it all, I do just want to sit down my FH and enjoy our event, even if it's just for 5 minutes, with just the 2 of us. Smiley heart

We asked our wedding party what they were most comfortable with and we all mutually decided on head table! We will have a SO table near the head table for SOs of the wedding party to sit closer to us! After the wedding party is done eating they are more than welcome to mingle and/or go sit with their SO!

You are so kind to think of your wedding party.

My day of lady recommended sweetheart for the best photo opportunities- and honestly I’m so glad she did. We were able to enjoy each other and eat together before the visiting time with guests. Go for sweetheart !

Sounds like everyone is saying the same thing! My FH agrees, so we'll have a sweetheart!

We are leaning more towards a sweetheart table as well. My wedding planner suggested a captains table. I may be understanding it wrong but I believe it is when the bride and groom sit with their bridal party and their significant others. I think we’ll end up doing both, us at the sweet heart table and then the bridal party at one table with their guest.
