Sweetheart table- Yes or no

Hey guys! What are your thoughts on not having a sweetheart table? I always imagined being next to my family at our wedding and not by ourselves. Also I really don't like spotlight so I would dread the idea of everyone looking at our table. What is everyone else doing?

    Great advice everyone. Thank you! I'm leaning more on the sweetheart table idea.

    We are doing one. I don't think we will be a center of attention honestly. We will just sit there to eat and then we will be around mingling. I also think it'll be a good way to keep my party happy.

    I think it depends on how your venue is set up too.

    Since I have been to your venue, it depends if you want the sweetheart table right at the bottom of the stairs, or if that will be where the band/dj is and you want to put a sweetheart table on the opposite side of the dance floor ( so you sit facing the stairs)

    If you wanted to "blend in" more just put the sweetheart table on one of the sides, where they usually set 2 person tables, and it will make you not quite the center of attention.

    We are...but we had no other option. my family need to be separated, so we are not picking sides. It is also a restaurant reception, we rented 1/2 of the restaurant.

    @marryingmurray How great that you know Cicada! We are getting a band so having the table right by the stairs wouldn't work....but I'll work with the event coordinator and he will help us out. I think it's a great idea to have time with my hubby at dinner.

    I'm not a big fan, honestly. I will have plenty of one-on-one time with my spouse for the rest of our lives--I would rather socialize with our loved ones.

    But we will be doing a sweetheart table anyway. FH has 4 people on his side of the wedding party and I have 3. They are all in relationships, so that means 8 on his side and 6 on mine. Our tables will have 8 people each. It just works so much better to have one table for the groomsmen and their partners, one table for my people and their spouses, and one just for us. I don't love it, but it's practical.

    At first I had envisioned sitting with our families, but we ended up going with a sweetheart table. Our immediate families will be at tables on either side of us, fairly close. So we'll still have some privacy and also be able to easily interact with those guests. As others have said, we will probably be up and about much of the time anyway. I'm just not a big fan of the sweetheart table being so far removed from the other guests/up "on display."

    @Jeanette- My FH proposed there!

    We were actually just there a few weeks ago too, when Bill Nye the science guy was there!

    I think we're going to have the venue put up a slightly larger round table for us (the normal ones at the venue seat 8-10, and they have a bigger version that seat 10-12) and we're going to have us and our bridal party sit together. We each will only have 3 people and only two of them have a SO, so that puts us at 10. So as long as only two other people in the wedding party start dating someone, we'll be good!

    (Of course, if they start going on a dating spree, we will begrudgingly switch to a sweetheart table to avoid separating guests.)

    We're doing a sweetheart table. I want to be able to talk to my husband and enjoy our evening together! We are having a small bridal party but all have significant others/spouses so the head table would end up being really large as I would never split up a couple during dinner. We could do a "family" head table, but both of my parents are remarried and FH only has 1 parent so I feel that would be weird. Sweetheart table it is!
