Sweetheart Table... with your kiddos?

#MscoopedL, on May 19, 2017 at 3:17 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

We each have 4 children between the two of us, ages 12, 7, 7, and 5. I am wondering if I should seat them with me and my FH or if I should have them sit at a table with aunts/uncles/grandparents?

I am worried because the younger ones will need help at the buffet and getting their food. Also the groom and I may step away during dinner for sunset shots and I don't want the kids unattended.

They will be the only kids at the wedding.

Thoughts?

I think it would be great in this case if you could hire a babysitter that might to come to the wedding. You'd get plenty of time with them, but also make sure you're not spending ample time preparing plates, etc. The night goes by really fast and it might make it easier for you to get around and talk to your guests.

I like Dena's idea of hiring a sitter/helper. In terms of seating arrangements I say sit them with family or maybe create a kids table with activities to keep them entertained, especially because they'll be the only kids at the wedding.

I would sit them with you and your new spouse. It would probably make them feel really great to be sitting with you and their new family.

I like all these ideas but A.L. is probably right. If I ask them...I bet they will want to sit with mommy. (I am the fan favorite what can I say?)

I think I like mixing these ideas up, having them at the sweetheart table and also have someone designated to help them like a sitter who can step in when needed and sit with them when we have to get up. Thanks everyone!

I like the idea of them being with you, but I agree it would be ideal to have someone else who can watch them so you aren't worrying about them all night. You want to be able to enjoy your wedding & of course your children are a part of that, but you also don't want to be watching to make sure they aren't getting into trouble ever 5 minutes. Maybe a combo sweetheart table with grandparents who the children know & will listen to?

I would say hire a sitter for the night and have your kids and the sitter sit at the table with you. That way there's someone to take care of the kids while you go to take pictures or say thank you to your guests, but they still get to sit with you guys

I'm torn, I like the idea but at the same time you're a mom every single minute of every single day. Hiring a sitter will help you enjoy your night as a bride instead of mom for once.

Good luck choosing, this is a hard one!

We're doing a head table because of this reason. And we're having him sit between his daddy (the groom) and his uncle (whom is his favorite person ever! Other than daddy) but we're having a very strange wedding.
