Sweetheart Table on a Stage

Shagalagadingdong, on October 19, 2017 at 10:37 AM Posted in Planning 0 9

My venue has a setup with a stage that often puts the couple at a sweetheart table on the stage next to some other decoration. They also have an alternative where the cakes go up there for display and cutting and the couple is on the floor with the rest of the guests (I'm not sure how the couple floor setup is)

Which would you guys choose? We're already going to be the center of attention, the stage seems a bit much (add in the stairs and possible tripping).

How would you seat yourselves on the floor? At a table with the bridal party? At a sweetheart table for 2 squeezed in somewhere?

FH and I went to a wedding this summer where the sweetheart table was on a stage and we thought is was a little ridiculous.

I'd sit with the rest of the guests. A stage would make me feel like I was trying to be royalty and that's totally nothing I would want.

There is a stage in our ballroom. We are NOT sitting up there. We're having a band instead of a DJ so they will be up there, but even before we decided on the band I knew we wouldn't sit up there. It would look super weird.

Our backup/rain room for the ceremony has a small stage where we would do the ceremony, but it looks nice. It's a long narrow room and the stage is pretty low to the ground.

But sitting on a stage for dinner seems very weird to me.

I have seen it done, but I think you should just put the cakes up there. One venue around here has the first dance and parent dances on the stage and the couple sits at a sweetheart table on the floor with the guests.

We have a stage at our venue, and were putting the cake and DJ up there. That way everyone can see the cake cutting and it keeps it away from being accidentally bumped into. Our caterer has already agreed to taking it back into the kitchen and cutting it (and the sheet cakes) and serving it.

We can put it on the floor, and I'd rather do that, but then, where is the sweetheart table on the floor? Do you just sit it between the bridal party tables (the bridal party is in the teens so there will be two tables for them). Do we choose one bridal party table and sit there?

I never even thought about this. My venue has that same type of set up for the sweetheart table. Maybe I'll talk to her and ask if we can be seated on the floor. That might be better anyway instead of trying to walk up stairs in my dress.

Our venue gives us the choice of on the stage or with the rest of our guests. I didn't want to be on the stage but my mother and aunt who have been a big help ( financially and emotionally) kept pressuring me to go on the stage. I finally gave in only because they wouldn't stop... I figured if it makes them happy then fine but I'm only planning on eating dinner up there and then being with my guests.
