Sweetheart table alternatives

michelle d, on May 22, 2017 at 1:18 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11

My fh does not want the attention of the sweetheart table. I don't want a head table. I don't like the look or separating couples. Has anyone done anything else? How did it work out for you?

We did a sweetheart table and no one was watching us. Literally, no one (and I know, because DH and I were watching everyone else!).

It was so, so nice to have those few moments together to share our first meal as husband and wife.

The only other alternatives I can think of is a Kings table (BP and their dates all seated with you) or you can sit with your best man/MOH and their dates, or with your parents/grandparents

Can you sit with both groups of parents/siblings? Or special relatives/friends?

Really the only other alternative is to sit among the guests somewhere.

We're not doing a sweetheart table or a head table. We are planning on sitting at one of the round tables with our guests - probably with our MOH, BM and their dates.

You can sit with family, you can sit with you MOH, best man and their SO's...you can do a head table that includes all the SO's (we did this....and it was a massive table...I think 22 people)..or you can just do a sweetheart table because really no one is going to be staring at you during dinner.

I don't like the idea of being "on display" either, but we're still doing a sweetheart table. We'll be directly between tables of our two immediate families, integrated with the rest of the guests. FH's parents are divorced, otherwise we might have just done a table with us and both sets of parents/immediate families.

We are doing a kings table. A long wide farm table down the center of the circle tables. It includes all the SO's, and FI and I are sitting at the head of it. We liked the idea of sitting WITH our guests, instead of up at the front sitting so far away.

Here's a good example of the layout, though not our specific style.

I know it's not the norm in most places, but here, the bride and groom don't eat with the guests. There's usually a small room or bridal suite where the bride and groom escape to and the caterers bring you a little of everything. Don't have to worry about people watching us eat or anything.

We are doing this. We are doing the sweetheart table surrounded by tables with the party and their dates. We have since decided to put our parents with us too to not be sitting alone.

We are doing a siblings table!! It will be us in the middle with 3 on each side. He has 2 siblings and I have 4. Our wedding party will then be sitting with their SOs! Our wedding party is rather large and we loved the idea of having our siblings with us!
