Sweetheart cake price

Shannon, on December 18, 2017 at 7:23 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 22

Wondering what a typical price would be for a sweetheart cake for just my fiancée and I ( we are doing sundae bar for guests). I just received a quote and I thought it was rather high so I am curious what others have paid. Thanks!

What is a sweetheart cake? Just a small cake for the two of you? That would depend on the size that you requested.

It would also depend on what flavors you want and the type of filling and icing ...I personally would still provide a cake for my guests . Just my preference. Can you get another quote ? I think that would give you a better idea of if the quote you received was high ....

It depends on where you live and what you want.

Why are you not feeding your guests cake? I went to a wedding that ONLY served gelato. That was awful.

I personally am not a huge fan of cake and feel like half the time a lot of it is thrown out. We are doing a sundae bar for guests so it's something fun and different. It is just for a 6 inch personal cake.

Um if there is no cake for guests it is completely inappropriate to have cake for yourselves. You are supposed to host every guest the same, including the two of you.

It is going to depend on your decorating, size and baker. No one here can really answer... the top tier of cake at the bakeries around here include it for free with the rest of your cake.

What about guests that are lactose intolerate? Do they not get dessert? Get a sheet cake. Inexpensive and your guests will appreciate having the option of cake.

Can't do outside food, and the cake prices for guests were outrageous. So we are definitely not doing cake, was just trying to do a small sweetheart cake for us to take home for our 1st anniversary where a lot of people will freeze it.

It depends on the design, of the cake. I have a small bakery, I could give you insight if you post a photo of what you gave to the baker in your area. But, if you are not having cake for your guests, why do you need it? Why not just have an ice cream sundae on your first anniversary and save your self the $?

I don't think that's polite to have cake for yourselves and just ice cream for your honored guests.

Wasn't really asking for opinions on whether or not to do it, or how we should do our dessert. Just wanted price information. Thanks.

If you thought the regular cake pricing was high, I would assume cake pricing for a smaller amount of cake would also be high.....

If I went to a wedding where the couple had cake and all the guests had was ice cream I would be mad. I can’t do dairy at all.

Well, in my grocery store, one could get a round cake like that for less than $15. But are you locked into buying this cake from your venue?

Honestly, if you are planning to save a cake for your first anniversary, why don't you just buy a nice little cake right before your anniversary. it will taste better!

A cake from a wedding professional cake designer cost anywhere from $3 to $15 per slice depending upon ingredients. It's a large range, I know, but that's the story. I'm with you - having a $1,000 or more cake is just plain dumb. I would rather spend that $ on my honeymoon. But do take into consideration that cake designers are real craftsmen/women and a good cake takes days to prepare - lots of labor and each filling is made from scratch. What my sister did for her wedding was to have a smaller cake (about $150) for them to cut into and matching cupcakes, one for each guest at $3 apiece. Still not a cheap bargain, but overall I think she got what she wanted and everyone like the cupcakes and candy station we set up for her with cookies, candies and bubblegum.

Do any guests have dairy allergies/intolerances, are you providing almond milk ice cream as an alternative? I have never heard of a sweetheart cake, but I have seen some small one layer cakes (like round 6 in) for as much as $30 to $40 in my local bakeries and grocery stores.

I literally googled 6" inch cake because I had no idea how much it should cost and I see prices varying from $25-$60. Your location, the amount of layers or even the design could play a part in the pricing.

Wow, never thought I would see so much spite and vitriol in a thread about cake. A sweetheart cake is pretty common, and if you are really going to get this bent out of shape over someone choosing to provide something different for their guests and still want a small cake to take home, you should probably figure out why you're so stressed out.
Thanks for asking the question, Shannon. I'm also looking for pricing of a sweetheart cake.
