Sweet way to ask Stepdad to walk me down the aisle?

Bride2Be2018, on July 8, 2017 at 1:58 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9

I am going to ask my Stepdad to walk me down the aisle. My Dad is not currently in the picture but I know he's still not expecting it. He's been just the most amazing person to me and I want to do something thoughtful to ask him. I know there are a million ways on Pinterest but I can't decide! Anybody else in a similar situation and what did you do/how did you ask?

I just sat down with my step-dad and had a 1 on 1, heart to heart with him. He cried, I cried, he said yes lol

It was sweet. I have yet to even ask my actual dad. This is not my first wedding. He actually walked me then but was a rude ass. Didn't take off his sunglasses, talked to people as he walked me up, things like that so I'm not really in a hurry. Lol. Plus he probably won't be happy I asked my step dad but.... he can sit and be a guest if it's a problem. Lol

@Alpowers...I feel you on the jerky Dad aspect...and yes he can sit his ass down as a guest if there's an issue like you said! We are so lucky to have amazing Stepdads aren't weSmiley smile

I feel very blessed! He's only been in my life a few years but it has been like he's been here my whole life.

I asked both my parents. My mother had more influence in my life, since she only worked part time, when I was growing up. A male family member doesn't have to walk with you; that's sexist and archaic.

@Bride2Be I think it's so sweet how you want to include him in this moment in your life! I'm sure however you ask him he will be honored! This is your decision, and you can have whomever you want walk you down the aisle!

I have a similar situation and I think my step dad really wanted me to ask because he has been in my life for a really long time. I didn't do anything special other than just ask him and he really appreciated it since he does treat me like his daughter. I don't think you need to do anything crazy because he will be so happy either way
