Sweating Under the Dress!

Abby, on May 14, 2014 at 11:18 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 17

I'm a BM for friend's wedding on 5/31. The wedding is in Florida, and mostly outdoors so it will probably be pretty hot and humid.

I took my BM dress for altering the other day. In the 10 minutes it took for the seamstress to pin along the bottom of the dress for a new hem length, I was sweating buckets on my legs! And this was indoors!

So now I am really concerned about feeling wet and uncomfortable the day of the wedding. My dress is floor length chiffon. I didn't have this issue with my ballgown wedding dress because I got married in November.

Are there any brides who got married in hotter months that had to deal with leg sweat? Is there anyway to combat it? Baby powder? Body Glide? Rub antiperspirant on your legs? Ideas please!

I anti-perspirant my groin and inner legs. It really helps! Then I also always wear white bicycle shorts under a dress to help absorb moisture.

I sweat like no other! Gross but it needs to be dealt with.

The last three times I've had professional pics taken, twice for a wedding and once for another occasion, I have gone into full sweat over the stress of getting ready. I am not kidding, I'm getting xanex for my wedding day in hopes that it will keep me calm. If my hair is all sweaty by the time I walk down the aisle, I have no idea what I'm going to do. This is seriously my biggest stress trigger. Thank God I no longer get zits, or I might not go through with it at all. LOL! JK...

Try a powder spray, Gold Bond No Mess Powder Spray should do the trick.

Anti perspirant spray, BEFORE you get dressed, spray down there liberally.

I used body glide on my wedding day and I had no issues with it. I usually chafe pretty easily too and I was not irritated at all :-)

I used between the sheets. It's basically a scented spray powder and we all used it and it was fabulous!!!!

Thank you ladies! Glad I'm not the only one with a sweating problem! You'd think I know how to handle it better, having lived in Florida my whole life!

I second LetItSnow - lots of spray deodorant, and it's amazing how much more comfortable cycling shorts can make you. FH thinks I'm mad as he thinks they'll just make me hotter, but they make me feel cooler as I'm not all sweaty and sticky like I would be with bare legs. I will probably be wearing some under my wedding dress which I'll whip off before he ever finds out...

I will be wearing pettipants under my dress to avoid the chub rub thigh chafe. and like Jemma said, they are easy enough to whip off before FH sees them.

I have nothing to contribute really, but this made me think of an episode of Friends where Ross wears leather pants on a first date and sweats so bad and then tries to cool off but then can't get the pants back on. I'm a big Friends fan, here's a clip if you're interested lol!

Happy - I loved that episode....I did a trial run with Body Glide and I didn't like it. It didn't go on as easy as deodorant. I may have to fall back on my good old stand by of something similar to biker shorts.

For those that go the bike short route - do you get cotton or another material? I've read cotton just holds moisture and that other fabrics are better for moisture-wicking.

I would use the spray deorderant, spray, chest, belly, between legs, behind knees etc. The spray dosen't clump up and still will keep you dry plus smells fresh and clean

I would use something sparingly or made to be used on most of your body parts. I lived in Hawaii for 26 years (so i'm no stranger to heat and heavy humidity) I knew a boy that sprayed his entire body with regular deodrant. He passed out and was rushed to the hospital. His body overheated. It couldn't release heat and cool down via sweat becuase the deodorant blocked all of his pores. So what ever you use make sure it's safe to use on your entire body.
