Surprise for Groom

Cynthia, on September 11, 2018 at 10:38 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 11

I'm so excited, I just have to share! Even though it's set me a little over my planned decor budget, I was able to add in the cutest cigar bar to surprise my FH! It's this old fashioned desk that comes with a mirror attached (where a calligrapher will add a quote from an old book), books and a globe decor on the desk, side chairs, and a trunk. He wanted one when we first started planning, but it went out the window when we started booking other decor (a small lounge area in front of a fountain at our reception.) I'm just really excited that I'm able to ::hopefully:: keep it a secret and make him happy to see it there and set up and look amazing. Yay! What are other brides adding into their reception as far as decor or entertainment? We also have fire pits, a dance floor, open bar (with beer/wine) and a photo booth. So excited!

How do you get ahold of a photo booth and do you have any ideas for beach wedding entertainment?

How exciting! Your FH will be so surprised and I’m sure he will love it because of the thoughtfulness you put into this!
We are working on a photo booth, cigar bar, and Manhattan bar for our guests. Then we have a late night venue booked for after the reception if guests want to keep celebrating!

Hi Ashley! A quick google search of local photo booths will give you a head start, but you can also ask vendors or your venue for referrals. I’ve also heard GigMasters is a good site to use to gather quotes from multiple companies and select one. You can do an open air photo booth at the beach! S’mores are always fun, and I’m sure a grand exit with your guests using sparklers is allowed and would look stunning! Perhaps add in a whiskey bar instead of cigars at the beach? There’s a ton of fun ideas! Live music is always a plus too!

A Manhattan bar? Sounds like fun!!! What kind of late night venue did you book? We are getting married in vineyard/wine country, and there’s only one small bar that will be open that evening after our wedding ends at 10. We are planning to go there afterwards with family and close friends (if we have the energy!) We are also renting our a big Airbnb for the weekend and might have a friend or two come hang out there too. But honestly, we probably will be so tired that we want to find our bed and just crash! 😊

Yay! So cute! I'm trying to budget for this. The quotes I got were $800 for a hosted bar for 50 people, and $1,600 for a hosted one with a rolling station. I'm wondering if we could do it ourselves, without having someone there? That way we could save some money. Are you supplying the cigars?

I will supply our own and will have cutters and lighters at the station. Getting a roller to do it, or hosted is just too much money. When buying cigars in a small bulk order, you can find some for $5-$6 each. It’s really feasible this way!

I agree! That's what I'm thinking. I'm thinking if we buy our own and set it up on a table, it will still be fun and cute. For now, I've planned on getting 5-10 types of cigars with little signs with the type & description, cigar cutters, lighters, and a sign on "how to smoke a cigar". Do you think I need anything else?

My FH and his family love Manhattans. We booked the Tavern restaurant at the resort where we are having our wedding. There aren't many restaurants and things in the immediate vicinity of the resort. We want to make sure our guests have an option for late night snacks and extra time to hang out, since we are doing a destination wedding.

Totally understand the possibility of being tired! I went to a wedding last weekend and was tired by 11 pm. An Airbnb sounds like fun. It's nice because the day of the wedding and evening you can just go with the flow of things!
