Super small venue for less than 20 people?

Chris, on February 20, 2015 at 6:43 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

Hi! My name is Chris and my fiance's name is Nick, and we're looking for a venue to host our super small ceremony of about 15-20 people (including us and our photographer). We're throwing a huge reception party later at night, but we'd like to have a small wedding ceremony for our families and our closest friends. So far we've been looking at venues, and most either have a minimum of at least double what we need, or are ridiculously expensive for how little we're asking for. Any advice would be awesome!

Are considering destination or does it have to be in your area?

maybe someone from your area is on here if it's the later.........

Can I ask where you live? We also had a very small wedding. Everything I was finding at first was crazy expensive and more than what we were looking for. I expanded our search outside of our metro area. The smaller towns surrounding it had much better prices. We found a small country chapel and they charged us next to nothing. Good luck. I hope you find something.

Can you have your ceremony at the same location as your reception? If not, try chapels or a park?

How about a unitarian church? they are often more open and relaxed-

here's one that seems open to rentals-

We are having about the same amount of people at our ceremony and my FMIL is letting us do it at her house, since it will be so few people. They have a decent sized yard that will fit everyone, and it's free!!! =)

I've messaged and called several vendors on here, the lowest I've found is $1600, which I still feel is a little high for what we're looking for.

We're not very religious people and don't really want to get married in a chapel or a church, which is another issue we've found while looking for a venue. A park could work!

We live in Rochester, NY and Buffalo, NY. We would like to have the ceremony in Rochester, but are open to Buffalo. We will look in the smaller surrounding towns too.

Thank you so much for the feedback!

Can't help you in your area, but I refer a bunch of little restaurants and B&B's in my area, so maybe you could look into that in your area?
