Super delayed invitation

anahidb, on September 3, 2014 at 1:41 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13

One of our guests messaged me on FB today saying they got the wedding invitation today. We mailed out invites the second week of August. I seriously wonder why it took so long for the invite to get to them. They only live in the next city over so it's not like it went to another state or overseas or anything like that. Most people that live around us received their invites 1-3 days after they were mailed out. So strange, but glad they finally received it. Now I'm wondering if others might not have received theirs. Hopefully that's not the case.

We had a couple returned for no reasonable cause...I am planning to just be extra gracious when calling people who miss the RSVP deadline (if any) in case they never received an invitation.

I'm in Tampa and a friend of mine in Seattle said her invite took over two weeks to get to her. We've had several invites returned, which worries me.

I had two families who never received theirs, so I sent a second to one. The other was my cousin, who didn't tell me this until two weeks before the wedding. I had kept bugging her about the RSVP and she finally tells me she never received it.

I did what @Jenn is planning to do. I was very kind when I called to check in on missing RSVPs and started with - I hope you got out invite! A few have taken extra long or been lost in the mail.

Same fear. My BM in West Virginia never got her first one that was sent. My FH's uncle's came back to us nearly three weeks after we sent it for no reason at all. So, we're a little concerned that a few of ours didn't make it to people, but what can you do? If we don't hear from them we'll just call and be gracious and if they didn't get it then we'll see if they still would like to attend.

For the cost of postage, you'd think they could at least get delivered at a reasonable time. *grr*

Ugh yeah it's really annoying. I only had one invite that came back but that was due to my aunt accidentally putting the wrong building # when she sent me a list of addresses. We sent our save the dates in March & in July one of them was returned due to the address. Took 4 months to get a returned mail. Really?!

I'm also a bit more concerned with how USPS does business due to an incident that happened a few weeks ago. I had gone to mail some stuff & there was a girl there arguing with the postal worker about her package not being delivered. The worker was telling her how her package was in the car with the supervisor at the moment & he wouldn't be getting back until much later. They argued for a good while & she finally left. Then the worker turned to his coworker & said that the package was in the back but he wasn't going to give it to her. Granted I didn't catch the full story so I don't know why he wasn't giving her package to her but still, don't think that's okay.

17 days out and I'm still waiting for RSVPs

I got two returned, our RSVP date is friday. I am very worried some of those who haven't RSVPd jut didn't get the invite. And we have zero extra. I really hope we get like 40 RSVPs in my mailbox tonight/tomorrow lol.

I had that problem! We sent out invitations three weeks ago and most everyone got them that week, but one of my friends just got hers last week Tuesday. She said she put her response in the mail the next day and I still haven't received it - she only lives about two hours from me! And FH's sister, who lives about 20 minutes from my friend, got hers right away and was one of the first to respond.
