Sunglasses?

Margaret, on November 2, 2015 at 3:24 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6

We are getting married outdoors in Florida, anyone that knows anything about FL knows it is extremely sunny at all times here. My eyes are very sensitive to the sun, they water a lot and I squint when I go outside without sunglasses.

How horribly tacky would it be to wear a pair of white sunglasses, with some rhinestones or something? I'm sure I can find a pair that says bride. I just know I will be making horrible faces without them. We are getting married at 1pm, by the water, so there will be plenty of sunshine... We are getting married in Jan, so I can't change the venue (nor do I really want to because it is beautiful!) but I have no idea what to do now..Help!

I think it would be cute and unique. We had sunglasses and provided them for our bridal party for pictures that we took outside and they all loved them. Ours said wife/hubby and then the date on the other side (this way we could wear them after the wedding) the bridal parties didn't say anything. If we had a outside ceremony I definitely would have wore them because I squint horribly and it looks really bad. Here is an idea.

Have you tried standing at your ceremony location on a really sunny day at that time? Maybe your venue would be willing to let you drop by during the week to try. I have seen brides squint worse on a bright cloudy day than a sunny one. However, if you are comfortable with having sunglasses on the whole time, then go for it. But I'd opt for a classy pair that doesn't stand out too much unless you want the focus to go there instead of on you as a whole.

@Lindsay Yes ive been to the location many times, its at a park on the water. It is very very bright there. I doubt it would be cloudy because it is in Jan.

@Samantha Very cute and a great idea with the date and wife/hubby. The guys will all be wearing a hat of some sort, so they won't need sunglasses, but I figured I would put all the girls in sunglasses if I decided to use them.

Personally, I would go with a plain pair over anything with rhinestones or that said bride. Just my taste but to me that belongs at the bachelorette and would be pretty tacky during the wedding. You could also perhaps consider getting a small tent that would cover at least you and your FH. Then you wouldn't have to worry about it at all.

@Margaret ~ I don't see anything wrong with wearing a nicer pair of sunglasses if it'll make you more comfortable! You can get some really cute photos if you coordinate with your bridal party, as well.

I would suggest making sure you get some photos without sunglasses though. Walking up the aisle? Posed in the ceremony space afterwards? You'll want some of those moments sans sunglasses for later.
