What are the pro/cons on Sunday weddings ? FH and I was just sitting here going over the budget. We just noticed we are going over alot becausee of the venue. But I just noticed if we change the wedding to a Sunday it's $1500 cheaper than a Saturday .

I do LOTS of Sunday weddings; I did one today in fact. They started at 4:00. I think it's much more convenient than a Friday (though I do plenty of those too.....)

Memorial day Sunday is a party night; I don't know that I would count on a discount on that particular Sunday, or any other that is part of a three day Monday off weekend......

I love Sundays; they are more relaxed, as Jessica S. mentioned. Just a good idea all in all.

Our wedding is also on a Sunday.Like someone said it's closest to our anniversary dates. All of our dates are 8s so we figured 7 would be close enough. We are also saving money. And as others said we figure if people love us they'll come no matter what the day.

Our wedding is on a Sunday totally so I could afford the venue I wanted. We picked a holiday weekend so most of our guests would have Monday off to travel home (we are getting married 3-9 hours from all our guests). I have heard a small amount of griping form a few people but I feel that its WAY more convenient than a Friday wedding where you have to cut out of work early to make it...

@Jessica: We might be date twins, thats the date we are considering changing too. Only if the venue is available that day. # crossing fingers

We were considering a Sunday wedding but had to change it to Saturday since all the "nice" churches were not available (getting married in a church was extremely important to us).

I think the $1500 in savings would be my answer <3 especially since you are planning a small wedding. I am looking for ways to cut corners as well.

I saw go for it too. From what I've read Sundays are becoming really popular for weddings. I'm actually having my wedding on Memorial Day (Monday) in order to get the venue I wanted at the lowest price. Just be sure if you move it to the Sunday before Labor Day that your venue will give a discount. I know mine charges Sat pricesfor Sundays with a Moniday holiday.

We decided to go with a Sunday for the fact it saved $2,000 on the venue cost. Our ceremony is going to be at 2pm so those who go to church can still do that too. It turned out better since we also have a lot of friends in the food industry.

We had a 3:30 Sunday wedding, cocktail hour and reception following immediately. Gosh darned if we weren’t totally surprised when most of the guests starting leaving at 6!! We planned on the reception going til 10 and we’re shocked when started receiving good byes as soon as dessert was over. I think one of the problems was that the person organizing the flow of events- first dance, other dances, cake cutting, just got to them too quickly, but gosh darn it, really, 6 o’clock? The place was empty by 6:30.
