Summer's Coming! But... Backless dress?

HJKvr, on May 2, 2018 at 12:11 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

Does anyone have any good sources for a bathing suit that is backless - but long-torso friendly? It's a big ask, I know. One pieces are generally hard for me because they're never tall enough in the torso. But I feel like the only way to get a backless suit is to go one-piece. There are a few cute ones on Amazon but I'm afraid the back isn't really low enough for my needs.

I plan to limit sun exposure as much as possible, use sunscreen, wear hats, sun-shirts, all of it. But there's no escaping the fact that I'll have SOME exposure since I have a pool and I'll be working in the yard a lot too.

Any suggestions on a way to best avoid tan lines on the back? My dress should be open until about my waist. Really would love to find a suit that's open-back friendly with a deep V neck. Not specific at all, I know. Smiley smile

I would check on Aerie. they have a lot of really cute one pieces with low backs. I'm in the same boat as you. I have a backless dress as well.

Thanks! I assume you mean the American Eagle brand? Didn't know they did suits! So I just looked and there are some cute ones... all a bit narrow in the bottom it seems (I'm... not narrow there). Still, might be worth a try.

Any other recs, please post! Smiley smile

Have you looked into any local lingerie boutiques? They will often carry more variety in sizes and style for swimwear than department stores.

Look up Sunny Co Clothing on Instagram they are doing a HUGE giveaway today of their most popular one piece that has practically no back. And by giveaway I mean they’re planning on giving away over 1 million suits all you have to do is repost and follow the ordering instructions. I figure a free suit is worth seeing if it fits, if not oh well you didn’t spend any money.

Great suggestions, thanks folks! I'm thinking it's inevitable that I'll end up with SOME lines... I might try a spray tan and see how it goes. Early in the summer just to test it out - wouldn't dream of doing it before the wedding without knowing how it looks first. I've never done any sort of tanning before other than the occasional Jergens lotion on my legs.

Lol girrrllll...I just went through this. I was in a panic to get something before a beach vacation bc I know the tan I got then will basically set my lines for the year, and I work outside in tank tops all summer so I needed some base!

i got mine from American Eagle/aerie and a
couple come in Long Torso size. One of mine completely fits your bill— HOWEVER I would advise reading the reviews! One of the ones I got has zero padding in the breast area so it’s a bit of a gamble (it’s a lay BY the pool but not get IN the pool kind of situation haha). I got another that doesn’t come in Long torso but the adjustable straps made it work okay, but again a little dangerous if you’re actually swimming. But, it’s super cute!
Its definitely an adjustment to start wearing one pieces and it might be a bit before they really feel comfy

Yeah to be honestly I felt a little indecent in some of the aerie suits but they worked in a pinch.
This one was very butt friendly! (...but not so boob friendly hahaha oyy— no win!) https://www.ae.com/aerie-cross-front-one-piece-swimsuit-blue/aerie/s-prod/0751_9579_400?cm=sUS-cUSD&catId=cat6890012

Also this one https://www.ae.com/aerie-one-piece-swimsuit-rust/aerie/s-prod/0751_1054_211?cm=sUS-cUSD&catId=cat6890012 though it is a bit small in the booty (and high in the hips! I decided to wear swim shorts with it so my butt wasn’t hanging out ) I did just want to point out that the straps adjust and don’t need to be worn cross backed like the model in the pic— the suit arrived with the straps going straight down all the way until the little corset part

it was the best I could do with short planning...and they were relatively inexpensive on sale. I did notice there were some online at Target that might have worked. I discovered that the ideal keyword in the search for me was looking for Halter one pieces. Good luck!!

I was looking at the Rings one. But I wonder if the rings get hot in the sun... I had a bathing suit once that had that problem. I would definitely prefer a little bit of padding if only to keep the headlights in check.

I guess I just need to try and see.

Also ASOS has some cute ones (thanks for that tip!). Why do all the low back suits have to be so high cut in the legs and/or skinny in the bottom though? I definitely have some curves around the hips with a mind of their own. Smiley winking I would say I'm average in the body shape department (whatever that is) but definitely larger on bottom than top.

I got this one from Amazon and it's perfect. The suit ties like a halter so it's adjustable to your needs

I saw a few low-back one pieces on Athleta, though that's definitely a more expensive brand.
