Summer or Fall wedding?

Gabbie, on December 27, 2019 at 3:11 PM Posted in Planning 0 21
My fiance and I want to have our wedding on the same day as our anniversary, May 28th2021. I'm in a dilemma because I was thinking it might better to do towards the end of the year 2020 for all of the fall colors, and that way we could get married next year instead of waiting longer. We want to have our wedding at a botanical garden, but if we do it in the fall, that would change. So my questkon is- whats better? Summer flowers in a garden or fall leaves at a campsite?

All depends on when you want your anniversary date to be and how you envision your wedding! We cared less about the “season” than about what date worked best for us so we will be doing a spring 2021 wedding to allow time to save and such!

It’s definitely personal preference. We just knew wanted to get married on a beach and so we started looking at venues then found out what they had available. The date was less important than finding the right place for us but everyone is different.

It’s really your preference! Personally I’d do the fall if it meant you could do it sooner lol.

But we got engaged December 2017 and were debating either September 2019 or June 2019 and ended up going with June because I preferred the vibe of a late spring/early summer wedding, and also a huge factor being it’s sooner lol, and I didn’t want to have too long of an engagement.

Also sorry to add on after I posted but... you should also see what availability is like from venues you want in fall 2020. September/October are the 2 most popular months to get married so at this point (less than a year in advance) you may actually have a lot of difficulty finding places that still have availability. So definitely look into that and if you struggle then the decision to do spring 2021 may be made for you

Personally I hate being hot, that's the main reason we chose to have our wedding in January. I live in San Antonio TX and in May the temps are always in the 100s

I think a late spring/early summer wedding sounds better. You’ll have more time to plan and fall is pretty popular as previous posters mentioned so venues may he booked or you may be limited on dates. Plus the date in 2021 means something to you! I wanted to get married in the fall because I love the season & it’s a special date for us , but we ended up decided on next summer since we are planning to move & now I’m realizing that summer will look better as far as taking pictures outside!

Fall is definitely beautiful but spring is when flowers are blooming and everything is bright , depending on the city/state , sometimes fall can look a little dry without leaves on the trees but I guess it all depends on whether the orange/red look in leaves are what you’re going for! What color scheme are you thinking?

It is definitely a personally decision. I wanted to get married in the fall, but my sister was supposed to.be getting in the fall when we went to look at venues so we got married in the summer instead. She called off her engagement after already booked the venue and photographer or I would have gotten married in the fall.

Color scheme is the thing because like an orange/vermillion, but thats good for either summer or fall. I prefer the scheme for the spring though because then its not too matchy matchy? Idk

That’s true! Maybe try to look at pictures at your venue options and see what you two like best and also look at pricing , dress inspirations (season will affect length & sleeve styles) & anything else important that could possibly be going on around both of those time frames then decide.

I’m getting married in May and have run into issues with prom (venues and dj’s. being booked) graduations and holidays -aka Memorial Day. Plus sports for some of my young nephews that they will be involved in-baseball tournament. Sometimes you just have to do what works for you. People will come or they won’t.

I’m getting married Nov 2020 and many venues and caterers are already booked.
I think with your colors you could do either fall or spring.
With wanting to get married in a botanical garden, they are warm and humid. I went to a spring/summer wedding at a botanical garden and since it was in a greenhouse we all essentially baked for 45 minutes. Since you have the benefit of having it heated, I would go for fall. Even late fall or winter. But that’s just my opinion!

It’s a personal preference, but I love all things fall. I got married this October and everything was perfect from the weather to the scenery. Depending on where you live, the spring/summer weather can be so unpredictable. However, the flowers are pretty. As one of the other ladies mentioned, it maybe difficult to find a venue in October this late in the year, but it’s worth looking if you are seriously considering it. You can’t go wrong either way.

Oh, I know the 28th is memorial day, but oddly enough, thats our anniversary. Would people really not come to a wedding for memorial day, though? I figured that it would mean people that work on saturday might have time off? The prom rush sounds awful!!
