Summer brides and tan lines

A. L., on June 25, 2017 at 7:51 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 32

Summer brides --

Are you starting to pay attention to where you are tanning? Even though I put on some pretty heavy sunscreen, I still tan along my running bra lines or whatever shirt I'm wearing. Obviously, none of these have the same lines as my wedding dress. Is this something you remotely give a crap about?

I worry about tan lines. My dress is strapless so I tan with a strapless shirt.

Yes! I think tan lines are so tacky. But I'm spending 4 hours on a boat with FH's family in the middle of July in Florida the day before our wedding. It might be unavoidable.

Yeppp. I'm a pale ghost whose lines retain incredible staying power lol. I still have bikini strap lines from last August. No kidding. Posssssibly about time to start working on those bad boys.

I was terrified of this. I used the Jergens natural glow lotion to even out my runner's tan lines. It wasn't perfect, but it was better.

I bet your makeup artist could help. They might be able to blur the lines with airbrush or other cover up techniques. Worth it to ask for a price, so you'll have the extra cash, just in case!

I've been wearing strapless every time I'm going to be in the sun for any amount of time for weeks now - and I took my fitbit off months ago (I had a pretty significant tan line to get rid of there, as I've worn a watch for 15 years or more) to fix the tan line. It's a real issue

Even though my wedding isn't until December, I still Have to be conscious about tan lines because I tan so easily and my tan lines still show in the winter Smiley sad

I am concerned about this too especially considering the sports bra tan line. I have been alternating running in tanks and short sleeve athletic shirts to minimize the stark lines on my back. I'm also going to ask the person who does my spray tan the week of to target and minimize those lines. Unfortunately, I know I will have some, but that's part of who I am the rest of the year so how awful can it be!

ETA: I have a completely backless dress so I have kinda resigned myself to having some tan lines. I have also been using a sports sunscreen while running.

Thankfully I burn and then it disappears so I'm just going to be a ghost it's fine. But I would only tan with a strapless top!

You could try airbrush, self tanner, spray tan, or a tanning bed

@Brittany B, tan lines are not "tacky". How are tan lines poor taste or quality? Sometimes they can't be helped.

I just bought a strapless swimsuit, but unfortunately that won't help if I'm out running. I already have a racerback tan line from just being out and about in them so hopefully I can be out in the sun enough in my bathing suit to even everything out.

@Becky, that's a good tip. I tan around my Garmin watch, but I can't run without it, so I guess I'm stuck there.

Trying to wear strapless whenever possible, getting a spray tan, and asking my MUA to airbrush out my tan lines

I'm worried about it. I just tried a spray tan in hopes of evening things out. It didn't work that well so I am going to try airbrush next. I'm glad I'm working on this now. I'm also going to try to stay out of the sun as much as possible.

@Faith maybe tacky wasn't the right word, I feel it cheapens the look of an expensive dress/get up. Like most people on this thread are saying, they are doing everything to avoid tan lines. What other reason would they have to do that than if they don't like the look of it?
