Suits verse Tuxs?

Chelsea, on November 16, 2020 at 10:53 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

Okay, im slightly seeing a difference. Im more causal wedding so thinking suits. Do they still wear vest tho?! My wedding is in July so i know the guys are going to get hot and take off the coat after photos im sure. But do they have vest or just a tie?

Also do you think it would be cheaper for them to buy then rent?

Im thinking navy and dusty rose ties which were going to order them from azazie where the bridesmaids dresses come from. Any places that you recommend to buy online?

I think it might depend on the place they order, but my husband bought his suit (the works- bow tie, shoes, suit, hemmed, etc) in August of this year for $600 and the total before the sale was $1,200. They were really busy too and said they’ve been slammed even with covid so not sure why the sale.
I would maybe search and compare a couple places.

Oops sorry - I meant to include- that was all purchased; the quote to rent all of that was $550 and we did a destination wedding so they said a $20/day late fee to return the rental! In our situation, it was the best deal to purchase.

Most wear just a tie, even in summer. 9 times out of 10 it is cheaper to rent. Unless he attends enough events that purchasing makes more sense.

My husband had a suit and he did not wear a vest with it. I like the idea of a suit more just because especially if the men are buying it they could wear it on multiple occasions.

If it's going to be in summer then I'd skip the vest on the suit and just have them wear a tie with their shirt underneath the jacket. Also omitting the vest can oftentimes make the rental/buy price cheaper.

We wanted our guys to buy their suits for our wedding, but with the fabric and look I was wanting, it's cheaper to rent. Some online rental companies have a 'buy your suit' option!

We were going to have people buy suits through Men's Wearhouse, but didn't feel comfortable asking our friends to pay $300/person. So we are probably going to rent them through Generation Tux. FI is going to wear a vest (I think), but the others will just rent the jacket and pants to keep the cost down.

GenTux has a promotion where the groom gets his rental free with 5 other rentals and gets to keep his suit with 7 other rentals. We're angling for the dads to get their suits there so FI can keep his.

It's a tough decision - I hate to tell people to spend money on something they can't keep, but $300 seemed like too much to ask for.

We are going the same route as PP (Tiger Bride), as we are also using Generation Tux for all the guys suits.

We had a semi-formal wedding and our guys did not wear vests or coats. They did wear bowties and suspenders. We found it was cheaper to purchase than to rent. We used The Groomsman Suit for our suits and were very pleased with them!
