Suiting for Women

Lindsey, on July 28, 2020 at 1:57 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7

My fiancee is planning to wear a suit, and we're a little stumped with where to start.

We want to buy, not rent, and are looking for color, pattern, and just in general something cool and fun. We'd love to do a custom suit, but are also open to buying something and having it tailored.

Anyone have any experience with suiting for more masculine-presenting women?

Many places that sell men's suits also carry women's. Just ask.

A Google search brings up several custom places.

I don't have relevant personal experience, but I normally like Banana Republic for suits, they're usually more basic/traditional colors, but they do have a few bright colors and interesting patterns right now. If your fiancee is open to buying a suit that's marketed to men, The Black Tux offers a bunch of colors and patterns, and they offer rentals, but they sell their suits new, you don't have to rent them.

My fiancé just got her custom suit from indochino. They have stores all over USA to go in and get measured. They have hundreds of color fabrics as well. They were wonderful at measuring a female even though their suits are for males. Hers just came in and it looks awesome. If you go with them, you will need to make an appointment to get all the measurements and selections done.

I was just looking at their website yesterday! It's nice hearing that they are good to work with as a woman also. Hopefully Texas will get it's act together, and we can make an appointment with them this fall....

My fiancee typically wears men's clothing, so finding suiting is something she's done before, we just want a more special experience, and so much bridal suiting is cut in such a feminine way, it just doesn't suit her style.

    Thanks for your feedback!

I was also coming to suggest The Groomsman Suit! We got our suits here. This is an amazing company and I highly recommend them.

My butch fiancé is buying a suit from The Black Tux and then getting it altered. She ordered a few from different tux companies and that one fit the best and was the nicest. Also it was nice to be able to try it on at home since we live in Florida 😵
