Suggestions For Thank You Messages

TANIA-LYNN, on August 3, 2020 at 3:08 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 6

So we are looking into sending out thank you cards, but are unsure of what to "thank" in regards to cash and checks. I don't want to just write "Hey, thanks for the cash!" and sound greedy. Any ideas of how to word that?

Maybe something along the lines of, “We are so thankful that you were able to attend our ceremony and reception. Thank you so much for your generous gift. It will be very helpful as we (save for a down payment, head off on our honeymoon, etc). Much love, Your Names”

I didn’t specifically say cash or checks in my thank you. All I said was thank you so much for your generous gift.

I definitely agree with the phrase "generous gift". You can include what you plan on using it toward, if you want something more.

    "Dear ________,

We enjoyed seeing you and spending time with you at our wedding and we thank you for your generous gift. We can't wait to spend it on/put it toward ____________. It was such a joy to be able to celebrate our special day with you and we are so grateful you were able to join us. Thank you again!

    With love,

    The Newlyweds"

This is it... “Thank you for your generous gift” - this automatically alludes to money.

Agree with “thanks for the generous gift.” Add something personal about your interaction with them as well, if you can. “We were so happy to celebrate with you” could be sufficient as well, along with the thanks.

Thank you all so much! I didn't want to be too vague but this definitely was helpful!
