Suggestions for Alcohol?

Sierra, on July 31, 2018 at 2:04 PM Posted in Planning 0 10
We are providing the alcohol at our indoor reception. The hall provides the bartender but we bring in the alcohol. We want to choose a vodka, rum, dark liquor (probably Jack) as well as a red and white wine. (Of course beer but we can easily pick that). I’m not sure which type of vodka, red and white wines to choose. Smirnoff? Absolute? Trying to get a good price but also not choose something tacky. Let me know your brand suggestions or advice! Thanks

    I'd suggest Tito's vodka.

Titos vodka. I would also offer a whiskey or bourbon unless you know your crowd wont drink any of it. Bullet is nice and well priced. Try Costco for the huge bottles at really good prices.

For wine, I would pick tastes that run towards the middle of the spectrum if you are only picking one red and one white. I would suggest that you don't get a riesling or anything too fruity. Cab Sauv and Sauvignon Blanc are usually good middle of the road, drinkable picks.

I feel like absolute and Smirnoff are two really big brands everyone will know! I'd do absolute, just because I would be lost on whether to get regular Smirnoff or the tons of flavors lol and maybe get some Crown, I also feel like that's a big hit!

I think Smirnoff or Absolut are both great options, so I'd go with whatever is cheaper. For red, I'd go with a Carbernet or Merlot. For white, I'd go with Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc.

If you want a name brand vodka, I find Tito's to be the best tasting. Costco's Kirkland brand is pretty darn good too though and about 1/3 of the price. I would choose that over Smirnoff.

Wine can be tricky. For general, inexpensive red wine I would do a blend, like Apothic Red. White is tough for me, because the cheaper ones can be really bad.

We are serving Rombauer Chardonnay and Zinfandel at our wedding. They are a bit pricey, but they are our favorite wines and if we have happen to have some left over, we will not be sorry about it!

Hi Sierra! Agreeing with the others, I think TIto's is a great choice for vodka, but Smirnoff would totally be fine too! For rum I feel like Bacardi would be good! For the wines, I would do a cabernet sauvignon for the red and then a pinot grigio for the white! You can find pretty good ones for not that much!

We also have to provide our on liquor -- I just got these quotes from a liquor store - hope you find them helpful. We will probably tweak whatever package we choose.

Red: Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir are staples, Malbec is also fun

White: Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay are nice picks, Riesling is great for a sweet but not-too-sweet wine! Prosecco is also great if you want a dry bubbly.

Wine tastes are very particular, there is no one wine that everyone will like so go for YOUR favorites. We personally dont like reds and only one guest actually drinks red over white so we are getting her favorite for her (my FMIL so important) and we are getting a couple whites definitely a Reisling because it is our favorite (and a favorite amongst our friends) and likely either a white moscato or a sauvignon blanc. We are also definitely doing a rose because that is always a big hit with our group.

For vodkas there really isnt much of a taste difference if you arent getting flavored so which ever is least expensive.
