Submerged Baby's Breath Centerpieces Help

Erin, on September 29, 2017 at 4:29 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 12

Hello! So I am doing my own centerpieces and filling tall vases with submerged baby's breath with floating candles. I have some technical questions that I can't seem to find the answers to...

1) How long can baby's breath be out of water without starting to die? and

2) How long can baby's breath be submerged under water?

I'm essentially trying to figure timing out for setting them up. The flowers are being delivered Thursday, I am waiting at least a day for them to freshen up, and I am getting married Saturday afternoon and I want to make sure I have time to put them together.

Any advice is appreciated! Thank you!

Have you practiced this before? I would suggest going to a florist and trying it before the wedding.. you may regret it if you don't. No suggestions other than that, sorry.

Just here to say it took me a little too long to connect that we're talking about flowers and not human babies.

This is a pretty easy & inexpensive one to do a trial run or two to make sure it works the way you're hoping.

    Looooool! That title doooooe.

I would go speak to a florist even if you don't plan on purchasing from them.

I agree with the OP about practicing this. I am doing something similar with calla lilies. My lily stayed fresh looking submerged in water for nearly two weeks lol. But calla lilies are very sturdy flowers. I would test it out this weekend.

Ask the florist when you should buy them and how long they will last.

Idk if this will help but they make this gel stuff that is liquid at first then dries and looks like water. It might make them last longer and things will stay in place

I love this Calla Lily decoration.

Did the lily stay in place easily once submerged?

did you literally just put it in water?

Thanks! Yes they did and because calla lillies are such sturdy flowers I just cut the stem a little longer than it looks (visually) and bent it. I then added the stones over it. I tested this for like 3 days lol they never came up or anything. I even coached the florist on how I did it for the wedding and they came out beautiful! Hope that helps!

You should be able to spritz them with water the days leading up to the wedding to keep them fresh.

I’m wondering the same exact questions you had. What did you find out?
