Stupid wedding dress question!

Kristin, on April 26, 2017 at 6:16 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 23

Can you use wrinkle releaser on your wedding dress? I really don't want to have to pay $75 to get it steamed. I've already paid in total $900 for my dress and alterations. Is there another way I can get wrinkles out ?

I did the same as Allison. You can get a steamer for around $20 and it works amazing for the veil too!

Anytime I don't feel like ironing or steaming I hang the item in the bathroom and take a scorching shower. It works 9/10!

I wear suits regularly for work, and pretty just hang them on the back door of my bathroom and take a hot shower with the doors closed. If that doesn't work, go for the $20 travel steamer idea.

You can buy them on Amazon. I don't see why you couldn't use it the day of.

You can buy the travel steamer for $20 at Walmart, target, bed bath and beyond, etc. ! My aunts helped steam mine the day or two before the wedding and then we just left it hung up.

Did the person doing your alterations not steam it before giving it back to you? I would think/hope that's a pretty standard thing

The shop where I bought my dress offered to steam it for free at one point when we were ordering it. During alterations, I asked the consultant who had originally helped me find my dress if that was still an option and we made arrangements for them to steam the dress and have it ready for us to pick up on our way to the hotel so it wouldn't be stuck in the bag for very long. I was just instructed to take it out of the bag immediately so that any wrinkles from the short time it had been packed up after steaming would fall out. It would not hurt to ask the shop where you purchased the dress if they offer this service at no charge for brides who have bought their dresses from them.

I got a travel steamer as a bridal shower gift. Gonna use it on my dress and my girls dresses. Super awesome idea that I didn't even think about!

I'm not sure you would want to use the release spray.. I mean even if it is clear it may leave weird stains on your dress and that would be devastating! Not sure it would work with a wedding dress or if I would try it if your dress is fabric dense but a lifehack if you have a wrinkley garment hang it in the bathroom with while you shower to equivalently steam it.

Can you buy a steamer and try steaming it first? Then get it done professionally if it doesnt work? My experience with my steamer is it doesn't always work too well. I'd hate for all of us to tell you to steam it yourself and then the day of you can't get any of the wrinkles out.

I bought a steamer --- and it took me close to 2 hours to steam my dress

(it was laid carefully in the backseat of car in travel bag --- still was a hot mess)

If I had it to do over --- I would have taken it to be steamed after checking into hotel (we were there 2 days before wedding) and only done required touch ups.

I would absolutely not spray anything on my dress. You could buy a steamer. But my alterations include professional steaming.
