So since I'm getting married in the church I was wondering once the ceremony is over and you walk outside people will be throwing florwers at you.

Are those flowers or something else ? My mom said in our culture we throw rice but I don't want that.

Have you guys thought about that? Did you buy a basket and gave to the guests so they throw it on you and your FH/H?

Also another question,I'm not going to have a flower girl since everyone in our families are older than 16 years. So do I give the baskets to the bridesmaids to throw flowers while I walk down the aisle? Or do I skip that part since there is no flower girl?

I'm sorry for asking something stupid, but I'm lost .

We won't be using anything. The chapel doesn't allow bubbles or sparklers and I don't want to be digging birdseed or flower petals out of my hair and dress for the rest of the evening (if they allow that.) Also, like a pp said, we only get the chapel for so long and I want to take the time we have left to get a few more pictures of FH and I or if the families if we haven't gotten any yet.

I've never seen flowers thrown at the couple as they exit. Traditionally it was rice but a lot of churches don't allow that anymore. Bubbles are more common these days.

No your BMs should not be tossing flower petals as they walk. That is more for flower girls who are children. Just skip it.

We were married in a church but did not have anyone throw anything at us following the ceremony. We did have a sparkler send off at the end of the reception.

Most people don't throw anything after the ceremony, if they're having a reception. You may also want to check with your venue to see if throwing anything is allowed. Also, I heard somewhere that rice is bad for birds. Definitely don't have your bridesmaids throw flowers for you. We're in the same boat for not having a flower girl. We're just having petals already placed on the sides of the aisle. I would have loved to have them scattered but having the whole bridal party walk on "my" flowers before me didn't sit right in my spirit. lol

A lot of people do bubbles. No mess and no problem for animals. Side note: I went to an April wedding and we were FREEZING waiting for the brides to come outside after the receiving line and once they were out it took forever to get the pictures taken. We were all miserable and that sticks out in my memory of the day. Just a logistics thing to think about if you live in a cooler area.

Just want to point out that the myth about rice exploding in birds' stomachs is false.

That being said, rice hurts when it's thrown at you. So it's still not recommended unless you want to be really traditional.

I don't want anything thrown at me. We are skipping it. If anything do bubbles. Bubbles are the best option IMO.
