Stupid question about welcome signs

I think it depends on your venue. Ours is the same place, but I plan to ask my venue coordinator about signage.

Most often I have seen them just outside the entrance to the reception.

We set up ours at the entrance of the ceremony space.

Mine had it outside our ceremony and then they moved it to the reception area.

Ours will be right before you get to the ceremony space.

Our venue had a sign, with changeable lettering, that was next to the large doors, to our event space. That included our foyer, ceremony room, cocktail hour room, and reception ballroom.

We aren't doing a sign. It's highly likely the weddings you are thinking back on didn't have one, either. It doesn't serve any purpose--your guests know they are at your wedding, and you still have to welcome and thank everyone using your words.

Everything was in the same location for me but it's usually placed at the reception. Mine was right at the entrance to the restaurant.

Thanks everyone! I know a sign is totally not necessary, but I like the simple ones that just say Welcome and the bride and grooms names. No poems though. I don't do poems.
