Stupid comment on my new date

Michelle, on June 17, 2020 at 9:46 AM Posted in Planning 0 23

Ok I know this is stupid. I have already submitted the new date to all vendors already, and told everyone the new date (thanks for the support yesterday💕) one of my friends laughed and said “May the fourth be with you” OMG I didn’t even think of it and it is not like I hate start wars but I thought this may the fourth be with you thing was stupid prior to the date change. I just can’t get it out of my mind. Stupid I know. I am happy with the actual date being may 4 2021, but if worried I’ll just keep hearing it lol

Honestly that was my first reaction when you originally posted about your successful change of date a while back. I thought “Hey cool, May the Fourth!” but I didn’t point it out. You might hear it again later from other people who are into Star Wars but I really don’t think they mean it in a bad way. Just a “hey cool” or “what a coincidence” reaction.

Haha I can’t believe I didn’t think of it. I feel like being that pain in the ass person that changes it again. They gave me either may 4th or 5th......so I may be able to switch to the 5th. At least that’s just Cinco de Mayo 😜

I wouldn't let a stupid comment decide when you have your wedding. If you and your fiance are happy with May 4th then that's what I would stick with especially since you've already told all of your guests. If anything that might make it easier for your guests to remember the date.

On the bright side, you'll always be able to find a lot of cool home decor or memes with your anniversary date! Smiley winking

I would ignore it. Don't let it bother you! That shouldn't be the determining factor of which day you choose your wedding to be on. I didn't even notice and I don't think others will either (unless they're a fan of Star Wars, but even then I don't think they mean it in a rude way). It's actually kind of cool if you think about it - nobody will forget if they notice. If you and FH are happy with that date, keep it. Good luck!!!

Oh man! I really wanted that date as a huge star wars need but it was taken. Lucky you! But don't let it get to you if you don't like it. But hey! May the fourth be with you! ❤️

Just laugh it off. I’m one of those corny people who laugh at things like this. You chose this date for you so don’t let anyone else’s dumb comments get to you. Hey, at least your special day will always be remembered! Best wishes! ❤️

Unfortunately you’ll probably hear it even more. I’m not a Star Wars fan, but it’s still my first thought when I hear May 4th now.
The one thing that gets me a bit is how everyone has to tell me who else they know that got married on my date. And well, I almost wanted to change it after being told it was my aunt’s date. I never liked her husband and he was a sorry one at that. But I wanted late October and my FH already vetoed Halloween.

You're not alone in ridiculous jokes on your date. Our was moved to September 19, which I was later informed is "International Talk Like a Pirate Day". 🤦🏻‍♀️ Ah well.. it'll still be gorgeous. 🥰

I'm sure every couple that gets married on 4/20 doesn't want to hear references to smoking weed, and there are couples who get married on 3/14 and prefer cake to pie and so on. Just don't let it get to you and if someone is repetitive about it let them know it bothers you.

Thank everyone. I am feeling better than this morning lol. I do agree with you all, it’s a silly reason to change a date. Thank you all so much! I think I do just need to shake it off and move on. Lol

Haha thanks Tracey. This actually made me feel better lol......and giggle. As long as no one was tying to be a pirate, or in my case, have a lightsword fight 🤣🤣🤣

I agree with saying "it's the fourth of May" whenever possible (and on the invitations), AND I'd try to look at the bright side that no one (including FH...lol) will ever forget your anniversary! Our daughter's birthday is April 15th.... In 25 years none of us has been able to mention her birth date without hearing, "tax day!" (However, really random people in her life always remember her birthday. Smiley winking )
