Future Mrs.Randolph
Dedicated February 2022

Stuck Between 2021 or 2022

Future Mrs.Randolph, on August 22, 2020 at 11:55 AM Posted in Planning 0 7
I just got engaged on my birthday August 8th and have been doing some venue research for now. I've been super stuck on whether or not I want to have my wedding either September 2021 or March 2022. The pros and cons are fairly equal to me. We've been together for quite a while (8years) so I'm pretty eager to get it done with which makes September 2021 seem like a good idea. But with all this COVID stuff going on who knows how September next year will look so March 2022 would be really playing it safe. I'm curious what would you guys do in this situation my fiance is a go-with-the-flow type of guy so whatever I want he'll go with it so long as it's reasonable.

If you decide to choose 2021, I would suggest looking at venues soon - with so many people postponing from 2020, venues will likely have limited availability for 2021. Otherwise, if you decide to go with 2022, you still have time before you would need to reserve a venue.

I agree with Lisa, a lot of vendors are booked up for 2021 between 2021 brides and 2020 postponements. You might have better luck picking a weekday if you really want 2021. My FH and I have been together almost 8 years, so I understand.
I’d also consider weather where you want to get married for September versus March- for us that’s warm fall weather with a chance of afternoon thunderstorms versus several inches + of snow. Will it impact any travel? What about your honeymoon?
People choose colors and decor that don’t necessarily go with the season all the time, but for some people things like that really matter. As for Covid, no one has any idea what’s going to happen in the next year. Make sure for any vendors you book that you read the contract and know what their policies are in case you did have to reschedule/cancel. A lot of brides this year lost deposits and/or had to pay increased rates for their new date. Happy planning! Congratulations on your engagement!

If it were me, I would not want to wait any longer and I would do it in 2021. Maybe think outside the box for different types of venues that may not be booked up, or doing it at a private residence. Best of luck to you!

Congratulations on your engagement! I would just say that if you’re planning to have a wedding next year then it’s best to start looking for vendors ASAP because most are probably filling up from postponed weddings.

Congratulations! I would start reaching out to your favorite venues soon just to inquire if any dates in September 2021 are still available. As others have said, with COVID pushing so many weddings into 2021, things are pretty booked - especially for a prime month like September. Unfortunately I think that will play a larger role in your decision making than you anticipate. Smiley sad

Congratulations!! I would go with March 2022 to be safe, but that's just me! Good luck

September 2021 and March 2022 are only six months apart. So, if it’ll make you feel a little more comfortable, you may as well go with March 2022.
