Strings vs Piano

Thegreatkatbee, on March 4, 2016 at 2:18 AM Posted in Planning 0 8

My FH and I are torn between having a violin/cello combo or a pianist for our ceremony music. They're the same cost and both are willing to learn new music at no charge. Any suggestions or advice on how to choose? Also, I don't really like the traditional "here comes the bride"; any suggestions for alternatives?

Google The Two Cellos. So very cool. I'm looking into a local duo called Bridge to play our ceremony and cocktail hour. I want the music to be beautiful just not necessarily classical.

I'm partial to the violin/cello because I was a violinist.

Like Katrina said, 2 Cellos are awesome. You might also want to check out The Piano Guys. We're using a lot of their music for the ceremony and reception.

A friend and her husband offered to play our ceremony music since I played at their wedding. She plays piano and he plays sax. However I'll just be having her play piano for the actual processional. The current plan is Jesu joy of mans desiring for the bridal party and prelude in C (both by Bach) for my processional

Oh wow, that is amazing! I would definitely pick the strings. If I was a guest I would be so impressed by that!

We are having strings, only because my FH said that was one thing he thought would be nice and I'm trying to incorporate as many of his ideas as possible Smiley smile I think strings are beautiful!

IMO strings sound more formal and elegant. I'm a pianist and I would choose the violin/cello combo lol.
