String lights

Meredith, on January 14, 2018 at 8:33 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 12
Hi all,

I'm looking to buy edison sting lights for my outdoor reception. I've only been able to find them in lengths of 50ft for around $30. Does anyone have a cheaper source for these?

Thanks!

I've looked at this too and that was about the best I found. I tried e-Bay, Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist and all the other places I thought another bride may have purchased and then looked to recoup by selling to no avail. Look at your vendor tab and you'll find a lot of coordinators list string lights in their basic package. I'm just going to have some good inspo pictures, make some phone calls and hit an expo or two.

I don't know if it's cheaper but last time I was at Target I saw a wide variety of string lights. Try E-bay or Facebook Marketplace.

If she can get 50 feet for $30, why would she want 9 feet for the same price?

Well I thought 20 ct meant 20 count which meant there were 20 9’ strings, but apparently that means the number of lights ... oopsies!

I am going to be using string lights (like Christmas lights) which you can get in like 100'+ rolls, then placing ping pong balls over the lights to give it that "globe light" look. When it's at afternoon/night it looks just like those lights. I've done it before for a patio and it was nice. But will do again (in bulk) for my wedding.

Lol they are high quality LED bulbs not cheap incandescents. You will not find a cheaper set of these. You get what you pay for. Try and find them cheaper (:

Do you plan to keep them after the wedding or sell them?

Many party rental companies offer them and will set them up for you if you don't intend to keep them. The money difference (you have to factor your time as minimum wage for DIY) often leads to renting as more economical
