Strict Send-off Rules

Chelsea, on July 21, 2015 at 9:12 PM Posted in Planning 0 25

So I found out recently that our venue has very strict rules on what we are allowed to use in our send off. No sparklers (because the venue is on a hill), No confetti, and nothing else that could potentially leave a huge mess for them to pick up later. With these restrictions, is there any other option left? Or is waving goodbye the only option here?

I forgot to mention our wedding is from 7pm- 1am. Will it be hard to see the bubbles?

Ours is very strict too - its a historic mansion so pretty much nothing is allowed. We aren't doing a big send-off and will just party til the last dance with our guests and then continue the after party at the hotel afterwards! haha.

I work at a venue. I hate cleaning after send offs lol especially sparklers. Bubbles are awkward though. I think the glow sticks are a good idea!

We did glow sticks. it was a hit AND awesome pictures. I actually bought them all at dollar tree. they had the really long ones (24 or 36 inches) in a pack I think 4 for $1.00.

My brother and sister-in-law did glow sticks and ended up with some really cool pictures. They also left a trail of glow sticks from the venue to their home when some of them got thrown on top of the car. Oops.

What about a bubble machine? Or you could give everyone old fashion hankies and have them wave them as you run by! Or those long streamer wands that rhythmic gymnasts use? Or have someone shoot off a shotgun? Just kidding... maybe.

Ribbon wands with gold or silver metallic ribbons look like sparklers in photos.

My best friend had the same restrictions. She and her husband went to the University of Georgia, so they did pom-poms in black and red. Everyone sang the fight song before they ran off. It looked really cute!

If your receptions at 1am, why even have a send off when either:

    a. It will be late an not as many people are there or they're drunk

    b. you'll have it staged earlier in the reception.

Not every idea or trend thats hot on Pinterest has to be executed at every wedding.

My venue is strict as well - so I am also using glow sticks since the send-off will be at night. The pictures will be AMAZING!

Here's the sign I created for it:
