Stressing Out (long post)

Samantha, on November 6, 2019 at 10:30 AM Posted in Planning 2 10

I am a senior in nursing school (supposed to graduate in May 2020). Our wedding is May 29th, 2020, which is two weeks after my graduation day. I feel like I have a lot of things done but since I'm so distracted with school and I got things done early so I wouldn't have to worry about it during the school semester I feel as if I am falling behind in wedding planning.

Things I have done:

Venue booked: includes flowers, DOC, décor, tables, chairs, linens

Photographer/videographer booked

DJ booked: ceremony and reception music

Cakery booked

Officiant "hired": it's my grandfather

Dress: paid for and has come in

Veil: picked out, buying with next paycheck

HAMU company booked: need to book trial a little closer to date

Save the Dates sent

Bridesmaids and flower girl dresses picked out

Things I need:

Caterer: we had a tasting with the one we had planned on using (had GREAT reviews) but the food was not very impressive so now we are trying to find another company

Groom, Groomsmen, and ring bearer outfits

Am I missing anything?? I feel so lost

This looks great! I would start thinking about your accessories for the day (earrings, necklace, etc.). Also, it wouldn't hurt to start playing with invitation ideas so that you can have one picked out when it is time to order. Are you going to do getting ready outfits for the bridal party or gifts for groomsmen/bridesmaids? If so, you could definitely look into that now. Have you picked a guest book? I would start looking into the smaller things to see if you can get them crossed off of your list early, I waited til the last month or two to get a lot of the smaller stuff and it was super stressful (I am in school and work full time). I would definitely say the earlier the better with this stuff! Good luck and I am sure it'll all come together beautifully Smiley smile

I remember my days of nursing school.... it was awful! Just stay super organized and plan for time off studying and wedding planning. You will need some time to just let your brain decompress. It sounds like you’re on the right track. Try to get as much done during your winter break to keep the stress down during your last semester. I’ve found that as you move along with planning all the details seem to fall into place and makes it much easier to make decision about what you want.

Wow you have a lot done. Maybe think about gifts for your bridal party and parents and get them ordered and done.

Hi there! I’m also in my senior year of nursing school and am graduating in May 2020, but our wedding isn’t until April 2021. I would say focus on the details such as day of timeline and make lists of what you need! And like PP said, plan out your studying time and designate some planning time and days where you can run some wedding related errands. Happy studying & planning(:

I'm supposed to graduate and become a doctor a week before my wedding so i totally understand how this is stressing you out , i think you are doing great actually and just maybe some nights of drinking are in order Smiley tongue it seems like now you just have the very small details that maybe you can do on your winter break or when you have a bit more time , what i find helpful is actually arranging time on Sundays for wedding planning even a couple of hours is enough while having some wine with fh, and i don't have to worry about wedding planning during the week when i'm at classes and studying! Good luck with studying and planning Smiley heart

I got engaged the first semester of nursing school and had to delay due to funding and being long distance. It seems you are right on schedule. Don’t let wedding planning interfere with studying though.

I am also a senior in nursing school so I completely understand where you are coming from! Looks like you’ve been doing a lot which is good!

I am focusing on the tiny stuff during school- list decor and what accessories to wear. Over our Christmas Break I plan on getting our signs ready to go, finishing out the table centerpieces, premarital counseling, wedding rings, and stuff like that. Your wedding will come together beautifully! Just stay on top of your schoolwork and clinicals and it’ll all fall into place!
