Hey ladies (and maybe gents)!
Okay, I got married last Saturday (6.22.19) and am proud to be the new Mrs. Johnson! So happy about that part.However...I am a high anxiety person and quite the people pleaser, which I know played a role in this but, IT WAS THE MOST STRESSFUL COUPLE DAYS OF MY LIFE.
Everything turned out beautifully and the ceremony was wonderful, but, there was just a lot of drama with my family and insensitivity from guests and family and frustration with my photographer...and I spent the whole day worrying.
SO...here are two of my recommendations so no one else goes through this.
1. HIRE A DAY OF PLANNER! I'm serious. I'm quite the DIYer, I can handle stress (I am an ER nurse at a level 1 trauma center), and I planned this wedding to a "t" with SO much instruction to each vendor, but, it didn't matter. I was CONSTANTLY being asked questions of what to do (which I understand and appreciate all the help I had), making decisions, and being stressed. I couldn't sit back and relax. I wanted to save money where I could, but, if you can afford it, HIRE ONE. I really wish I had someone to buffer and save me from the ugly stress cry I had the next day, haha.
2. If you have a photographer, hire a helper or "second photographer". I don't know if it was just mine, or everyone-but, she needed someone to help and I am worrying about my photos, I am sure a lot of things were missed because I was being frugal in an area I wish I had spent more money!
3. DO NOT WORRY ABOUT EVERYONE ELSE, seriously, if they love you, they are there for you and to make your day happy.
And really that is it-your day will be wonderful, I promise. Just make it about you and your significant other and not about pleasing everyone else. I know some people know this, and some people are people pleasers like myself.
Happy Wedding Planning guys!
OH! P.S. I wanted to add this, my wedding was like labor with my son. Stressful, exciting, anticipatory, beautiful, painful, but, afterwards one of the best memories I have ever had , tehe. Don't be scared girls, just hire a damn wedding planner
