Stressed !!!

Gladys, on December 11, 2019 at 12:26 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

Here!!! Getting married May 2 2020, We don't have a lot left to do, but we missing the most important part of the weeding. THE FOOD!!! we had a caterer but we end up finding out they wont deliver plus is far from our venue ,the only reason why we had chosen then was because its a Dominican restaurant (WE BOTH SPANISH , DOMINICAN AND PUERTO RICAN) I wanted to keep it close to our culture. Long story short we end up having to cancel them and know im having a hard time trying to find a cater, almost everyone its book for our day or over our budget. STRESSED. i would hate to postpone the wedding. DON"T KNOW WHAT TO DO!!!

I’m not sure what your budget is or where you’re located, but I would look into restaurants- Italian, Mexican, and BBQ are usually the most budget friendly.

I would not postpone because of that. Could anyone pick up the food and bring? How many people are you inviting? I love the idea of sticking close to the culture but could you have a few foods (arroz con gandules, lechon, frijoles) and then do other foods? Is the reception held in a very elegant place because maybe you can have a variety of foods. Maybe ask an Italian restaurant? Do not let this be a downer because ultimately no one is going to care what kind of food you had and the day is about you committing to your future spouse and as long as people are fed they will not judge.

My budget its as much like it was at the beginning, the restaurant we had was only charging us 1700 for everything. its hard to find a deal like that. i cant add more to my budget. not this far on.

I don’t think postponing the wedding is the answer. Instead you might have to open your options to other types of food. Then you’ll possibly have more caterers to choose from.

Hmmmm do you have any family willing to make a couple of side dishes like a rice or potato one to keep the Latin feel? Maybe your cake can have a guave or dulce de leche filling to keep some hints of the Hispanic culture? Or even some Hispanic based appetizers. If you can bring outside good I agree with what someone else said that Italian (pasta, salad, bread) is very affordable and even Mexican. Worse case you could bring in some party trays from a local grocer and set it up nicely with cheap displays. I know that is not what you envisioned but for budget friendly that would work and be elegant.

This far im not even trying to be picky if i cant get Spanish food Im open for any other style of food, as long as its not over my budget. i had requested a couple of quotes from italian restaurant such as carabbas and olive garden still have not heard from them. as much as a like mexican food my family are really picky eaters. some of then find Mexican food to be spicy ( not all Spanish people eat spicy food).

I say go with italian. You could do tons of pastas (red and white sauce) and tons of bread and salad. Because they are chains I am sure they can accommodate and just ask family to pick up if needed. Keep us posted and good luck. Also, check if there is a Maggiano's near you or a family style Italian place. You could check American restaurants and do a pot roast or rotisserie chicken with mashed potatoes, potato salad, macaroni salad, etc...
