Stressed over pricing

Natalia, on June 10, 2019 at 11:07 AM Posted in Planning 0 11

At this point I am almost done with all major decisions, but the things is I am having second thoughts when it comes to my vendors. Not because they are bad people or I don't trust them, I am just having second thoughts on their prices. I think I got a good deal on my florals (my bouquet, 8 boutonnieres, 3 corsages, 3 bm bouquets, arch flowers and 10 centerpieces) for $1300, and now I am about to sign with a photographer for $1200 for basically a full day.

I pride myself in finding good deals, and up to now I thought I was doing great, but I keep thinking of all the money we have spent on this wedding, and even though our parents are helping us out, I wish I could have done more to save.

Sorry for the long post, just needed to vent a little. Its too late to do anything about it now, but I hope everything will look great on the wedding day.

$1200 for full day photography is a pretty good deal. But I feel you - it feels like if we could have found a better deal after it would suck. But hey, sometimes saving an extra dollar or two here and there doesn't help all that much. You got your items off the checklists done and out of the way. And I'm sure you've done alot of searching for the deals you got already Smiley smile

The photography price is a great deal! I get where you are coming from but I think you will feel that way no matter what honestly. Because when we look at the overall total its like OMG where could I cut back or what could be DIY. Just breathe and relax that's what I do.

I searched for a lot of the vendors, but I left the photographer to FH. So far every single one he's talked to was double the price for minimum coverage, so this is the only one so far he's considered decent. I admit I was getting a little frantic because he was taking so long in hiring someone!

I think its normal to look at the money you are spending and get nervous! You did find great deals on your vendors from what it sounds like but it definitely still adds up to a lot of money. I had similar feelings so I understand! I always went back to wishing I had cut my guest list. It would have saved me a lot of money had I stuck to a smaller and stricker list.

I hear you about the guest list, I kept getting calls from family members telling me they are going to be attending! On one side its a wonderful feeling knowing they are taking the trouble to travel overseas to be here on such a special day, on the other side its people I didn't think were even coming so they had to be added to the guest list last minute. Fortunately we thought ahead and had a quote for a larger amount of guests for the venue, so far we haven't exceeded that count.

I know what you mean! I looked for all the best prices but no matter what you do when you add them all together you're still like oh crap that's a lot. I am reevaluating the florals pieces I want because if I could save even a few hundred that'll help to put towards something else or the honeymoon.

I get that stress...completely. This is my second marriage. My first wedding didn't cost near as much as most people spend on a wedding, but I still get nauseous about how much money was spent for one day. Especially since I got divorced 11 years later. This time around, I am not doing the big, traditional wedding thing. If we spend $2000, it will be a lot. This stuff is expensive and if that is the route you're going, there really is no way to get around it. Even with DIY, if you're not careful, you can spend just as much if not more. Figure out what is important to you, spend the money it requires. If you don't want/need it, don't get it. At the end of the day, you're still married.

I am with you. This is both our 2nd marriage so that helped pick and choose more areas to save on. I am always always looking for deals and ways to save money, even way before wedding planning. We have done good for the most part since we have done a lot of DIY but those vendors...

We decided up front that we were going to be splurging for our photographer because 1. shes amazing 2. she is amazing!

Our venue in the grand scheme of things, is not a bad price at all considering they charge by the hour. I just wish they offered some kind of discount for booking the entire day, but they don't.

Our caterer is well, the only choice we had out of the 4 our venue is allowing us to use. Since our wedding is on a Sunday.. 1 choice was a frozen yogurt place, 1 was Chik Fil A (closed on Sundays), 1 was cajun style food, which I can't eat so last but not least is the one we chose. Granted it is comfort, finger type foods and will be a buffet but we definitely would have preferred more of a selection of caterers for more hearty style food choices.

Good luck! Hope you are able to find areas to save more.

Thanks Sherry! I was lucky enough that our venue provided already alcohol and food, they also provided the linens and the arch (I just had to decorate it). I am not as crafty as I thought I was, so whatever DIY things I can do are very minimal.

Haha, I understand. It great that your venue has so much included. You definitely got a steal for that then. I was thankful mine provided the tables and chairs lol
