Stressed Out

Shauna, on July 14, 2020 at 12:10 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 5
Our wedding is in 87 days and I've never been more stressed out in my life. We have a guest list of 165 people in south Jersey (where the cases are low and the governor has barely opened anything). We have an outdoor ceremony and indoor reception. We were told that our venue can accommodate outdoors if needed but the outdoor area can only hold 70 people with social distancing in place. We are trying to come up with a soft hold date just in case and looking at Feb or March. My only problem is I dont know if COVID will still be a problem (which it probably will) and my colors are set for a fall wedding, no where near a winter one. I could postpone to next fall but that would put off EVERYTHING that we are planning for another whole year. I'm so stressed. How are you ladies holding up that have weddings coming up?

I'm so sorry you are so stressed out. Like you said, no one really knows what the future holds with Covid. I will say colors can work for really any season so I'm sure whatever colors you liked will look beautiful no matter what.

I agree that colors aren't season-specific! Don't let that worry you. Smiley smile

It's tough to plan anything right now, especially a wedding. I've had my plans in place since 2018 and can't believe this is where we're at now.

We've recently decided to scale down our 130-person guest list to 30-40 people (immediate, local family + the wedding party and their plus ones/kids). No dancing/DJ anymore - just a formal dinner after the ceremony and cocktail hour.

Part of this decision came from my venue, which can now only accommodate 90 people inside with proper distancing. That was a weird cut-off for our list, and we didn't want it packed to capacity anyway.

We will be planning a traditional reception with the original 130 for 2022 -- after all this, I don't feel comfortable planning anything for 2021, and much of it is booked up anyway. Hopefully COVID is gone by next year and the wedding industry can recover, but it's all just so uncertain.

I'm so sorry Shauna. I know that it feels like there are no good options right now, but you just have to list out the pros and cons and see what works best for you and your fiancé! Smiley heart

I'd put your color palette as a lower priority (you can always add an accent color to brighten things up), and see how your feel about the other options: downsizing, using the venue's outdoor space, or rescheduling for spring or fall.

Girl I hear you. I’ve gotten so close to just cancelling it... but we have nearly everything bought and paid for. We went from 130 people to 50 in the Hudson Valley. I jut hope that my closest friends (my bridesmaids) can make it. One bridesmaid is really worried about traveling with the virus, which I understand. It just sucks Smiley sad We don’t want to postpone bc aside from wanting kids (we’re in our 30s) this pandemic may go on for years... Hang in there.
