I’m probably being so dramatic but my wedding is a little over a year away and there is SO much that goes into it. I have all these people telling me to chill and that I don’t need to be planning this far out but none of them have planned a wedding before... with me being a perfectionist and wanting to do some DIY I know this will take longer for me to do. What do you use to organize your thoughts and all the tiny bits that go into planning? I have a notebook but it’s just a mish mash of everything I’m thinking and I need organization.

My friend gave me this wedding planner. I didn't use it aha. I'm a spreadsheets kind of gal so I used that to make a to-do, to buy list, etc. And honestly wedding planning can be a lot of time and it'll go by so fast. I had a lot of people tell me to relax too there's still time - but they're not the ones planning so it feels like a lot to them but to us it feels like there's not enough. However they're just saying that to help you relax.
Take a break and compose yourself whenever you need.

I'm exactly on the same boat. I was writing everything in my notebook but it was chaotic. So I started using OneNote and WeddingWire. I have all my notes and to do lists organized on OneNote and go to WW to know what has to be done in the future month or so, and organize the guest list/tables. I love planning and want everything to be PERFECT. Our wedding Is in a year and one month and we are DIY for part of it and I want to get started right away so I'm not stressing when it gets closer to the wedding. There is no rule in starting early, plan as early as you want and have fun with it!

I completely agree with you! My wedding is this September but I have been engaged since July 2017 and planning since August 2017. Everyone always told me that I had so much time but now that we're just under 4 months out everyone is starting to freak out. They always ask me what they can help with and I always say "nothing, everything's pretty much done because I did it back when you told me it was too early". I also am doing a lot of DIY so my advice would be don't buy anything until you're 100% sure its what you want and keep your notebook organized with everything you've bought so you don't overbuy. I made that mistake and bought over 30 candles when I only need 24 lol

Thanks everyone for all the helpful advice. Normally I’m not frantic but the time is getting closer & I have this feeling of doom that someone /thing will go wrong . I guess it doesn’t help being in grad school & work full time . But I am hopeful!! I will take these helpful tips with me !!

Thank you for all the advice! Unfortunately I don’t have have a working computer so some of these things won’t work for me, but there’s still lots of helpful ideas and hopefully this will help some other people too. Smiley smile
